Drug and Alcohol Counselor III

Position Summary Provide individual counseling, group counseling, and case management services to individuals with Substance Use Disorders (SUD) so they may achieve sustained remission, restore healthy social connections, obtain stable income and permanent housing, and reduce their risk of homelessness. As a Level III Case Counselor, you will also conduct diagnostic assessments, participate in quality assurance activities, supervise interns, mentor Level II Case Counselors, and provide group supervision to clinical staff as needed.
Essential Functions
Provide individual counseling, outpatient group counseling, intensive outpatient group counseling, and case management to homeless individuals with substance use disorders.
Provide individual counseling and case management to a caseload of program participants.
Facilitate outpatient and intensive outpatient group counseling.
Record all service activities by entering progress notes in the Y‑Haven Electronic Medical Record.
Establish and maintain regular collaborative relationships with social service organizations and programs that residents may utilize for employment, housing, continuing recovery, and other needs.
Participate in daily team meetings, quality assurance meetings, in‑service trainings, and coordination meetings.
Coordinate with the Clinical Director on all critical clinical issues.
Conduct diagnostic assessments.
Provide mentoring and support to Level II Case Counselors.
Conduct quality assurance activities.
Participate on the Quality Assurance Committee.
Supervise interns.
Provide group supervision to clinical staff as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Master’s Degree or enrolled in a Master’s program in a relevant field (required).
Experience:
At least 3 years of experience in SUD counseling.
Certifications:
Minimum licenses: LCDCIII (Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor III), LSW (Licensed Social Worker), LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor); CPR and First Aid certification and safety training required within 30 days of hire; must be free from sanctions or exclusions from the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) and the State of Ohio Department of Medicaid.
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred but not required; proven ability to meet minimum productivity requirements; successful experience facilitating SUD group counseling; extensive knowledge of substance use disorders and related issues affecting the homeless population; working knowledge of OHMAS, CARF, and VA program compliance standards; commitment to the YMCA mission, cause, and values; ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, abilities, and opinions; willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for child abuse or neglect.
Work Environment:
The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions typical of office or administrative work.
