Health & Safety Environmental Specialist Coordinate, administrate and enforce Environmental, Health & Safety (HSE) programs to ensure field and site operations comply with federal, state and local regulations. Meet requirements of suppliers’ HSE protocols and Ravago’s policies to maintain a safe environment and effectively implement Ravago’s environmental initiatives.

Essential Functions

Practice food safety, quality, and continuous improvement principles following GFSI guidelines.

Assess manufacturing hazards and implement safety systems to protect employees and the environment, with a focus on Life Critical Procedures and operational safety.

Maintain, revise, and enforce systems and programs that promote compliance with HSE and DOT regulations, including local, state, and federal rules.

Maintain required HSE and DOT training documents/files and revise as necessary.

Interface with Management and Corporate HSE Team to facilitate a safe and healthy culture.

Create and conduct weekly, monthly, and quarterly safety audits and inspections of equipment to identify and correct hazards.

Provide timely follow‑up on violations and corrective actions, including remedial training as required.

Conduct, attend, assist, and lead health, safety, and environmental education for remote Mays DOT employees and field employees.

Attend project planning meetings as required and provide status updates.

Support Plant management with incident reporting and investigation findings, including analysis of accidents, near‑miss incidents, occupational injuries, and OSHA recordable events.

Determine causes and execute preventive measures to ensure SOPs are effective.

Oversee the formation and ongoing operations of the local safety committee.

Lead, monitor, and schedule DOT and field employee safety training, including PPE fit testing, industrial hygiene testing, and Safety Day Training.

Develop and maintain a site‑specific Emergency Response Plan and the OSHA 300 log and environmental permits.

Maintain SDS safety data sheets and distribute as needed.

Conduct regular facility evaluations for HSE compliance and interface with plant management.

Prepare and present audit reports to management, HSE, and risk management.

Establish rapport with worksite personnel to facilitate effective communication and coaching.

Review and recommend site‑specific safety plans, JLA, and JHA.

Monitor field activities and respond to contractor Safety Requests for Information.

Enforce administrative stop‑work authority and oversee the Learning Management System for HSE training.

Coordinate with RHA and Corporate Insurance Manager as needed.

Minimum Qualifications / Education / Experience / Certifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree.

Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification a plus.

4+ years of experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental.

Experience in chemical processing or manufacturing plants preferred.

DOT experience a plus.

Knowledge of applicable regulations (OSHA, GMP, FDA, USDA, IATA, IMDG, EPA, DOT).

Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and related software).
