Position Summary The EHS Engineer is responsible for maintaining and continuously improving EAS’s Safety Management System (SMS), policies, and procedures to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations across manufacturing and modular industrial construction environments. This role champions a proactive safety culture by driving compliance with OSHA, EPA, ISO, and other regulatory requirements, while ensuring safe execution of fabrication, equipment installation, and maintenance activities.

The ideal candidate is hands‑on in the field, influential at all levels, and passionate about operational excellence through safety.

Key Responsibilities Safety Systems & Process Oversight

Maintain and enhance EAS’s SMS in alignment with OSHA, EPA, ISO, and customer requirements.

Lead continuous improvement of safety programs, operational controls, and digital safety tools.

Conduct audits, jobsite inspections, and field observations; verify corrective actions are closed promptly.

Ensure risk controls are built into production, fabrication, heavy equipment operations, and shutdowns.

Audit machine guarding and high‑risk task compliance (LOTO, hot work, confined space, etc.).

Partner with leadership to balance risk reduction with production and scheduling needs.

Policy, Procedure & Compliance

Develop and update safety policies, SOPs, and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs).

Lead internal/external EHS audits and maintain compliance‑ready documentation.

Facilitate regulatory inspections and coordinate corrective action implementation.

Support strategic safety planning and present progress to leadership.

Training & Culture Development

Coordinate and deliver new‑hire and refresher safety training for shop and field personnel.

Provide technical safety guidance to supervisors on day‑to‑day operations.

Promote hazard identification, near‑miss reporting, and operational risk awareness.

Influence employees at all levels to sustain a “Safety First” mindset.

Key Performance Indicators

Procedure Compliance Rate

– Tasks performed per approved SOP/AHA.

Audit Performance

– Success on ISO, OSHA, and internal audits.

Incident Rate Reduction

– Decreased TRIR, severity, near misses.

Corrective Action Closure Time

– Speed and effectiveness.

Training Completion Rate

– % workforce current on required certifications.

Safety Engagement

– Employee‑driven observations and participation.

Qualifications Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field

or

equivalent experience.

5+ years of safety management experience within

manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial construction .

Extensive practical experience may substitute for degree based on leadership review.

Certifications (Preferred)

CSP, ASP, or CHST

Technical Skills

Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards and EPA compliance programs.

Experience implementing ISO 45001 or similar safety management frameworks.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital EHS management platforms.

Demonstrated success improving safety related to machinery, electrical systems, and high‑risk industrial work.

Builds strong safety culture through engagement and accountability.

Confident communicator and skilled influencer across all levels.

Drives continuous improvement and Lean‑aligned safety initiatives.

Innovative problem‑solver with strong coaching and training ability.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Split between office planning/administration and shop/field environments with noise, dust, and heavy machinery.

Regular use of PPE and frequent walking, standing, climbing, and work in elevated or confined areas.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and support flexible hours for operational demands.

Travel

Routine travel (25–40%) to multiple manufacturing plants and project sites within the company network.
