What the Role Is Babylist is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Registry engineering team. This team builds the end‑to‑end experience for users’ Babylist registries—a product loved by millions of parents and gift givers. Product areas include product recommendations, baby shower kits, third‑party order tracking, and other registry management tools. You will work closely with Product, Design, and other stakeholders to design and build new features and experiences for our registrants.
Who You Are High‑performing engineer with 6+ years of experience delivering end‑to‑end solutions that drive business growth Exceptional problem solver Strong programmer with modern web stacks such as React + Rails, Python/Django, or Node/Express (we use Rails, but you should be excited to pick up a new stack) Ability to deliver elegant, effective software solutions in a timely manner Clear, friendly, and open‑minded communicator Passionate about making measurable improvements for customers and using data to drive growth Experienced in incorporating AI tools into daily software development practices, including code generation, automated testing, and rapid prototyping to enhance development velocity and code quality
How You Will Make An Impact Provide thought leadership around process, tooling, systems, and software architecture Improve and help maintain existing systems, increase test coverage, and refactor legacy code Work closely with product owners to design, implement, and deploy systems to support and scale user shopping experiences, research, recommendation, personalization, and the Registry experience Collaborate in a close, supportive team to solve real‑world problems and make decisions Mentor other team members through design and architecture planning, code reviews, and knowledge‑sharing sessions Identify opportunities for new product initiatives based on your knowledge of the technical landscape and web platform capabilities

The starting salary range for this role is: US: $180,100 to $225,082 USD Canada: $165,700 to $207,102 CAD Your starting salary will be based on your location, experience, and qualifications, with increases over time tied to performance, role growth, and internal pay equity.
