Reporting to the Vice President of IT and Facilities, the Director of IT, will be responsible for the implementation, enhancement, and support of General and Administrative (G&A) applications across Viridian Therapeutics. This role oversees the implementation, enhancement, and support of core business applications, driving operational excellence and enabling scalable growth as the company prepares for commercial launch. The Director of IT partners closely with key business units, including Finance, Legal, Compliance, and HR to ensure technology solutions are aligned with organizational objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. As a strategic driver of digital transformation, the Director of IT leads initiatives to incorporate automation and AI, optimize business processes, and enhance data integrity and security. This role is accountable for defining the application architecture and solution roadmaps, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring compliance with SOX and other regulatory standards.

This role is based in our Waltham, MA headquarters. Our office‑based employees are required to work in the office three (3) days a week.

Responsibilities

Lead the strategy, implementation, and ongoing management of G&A applications, ensuring optimal performance, integration, and security of core business platforms

Drive critical system enhancements within our ERP, contract management solution, and expense reporting software as the company prepares for Commercial Launch

Act as a hands‑on technical leader, directly involved in system configuration, troubleshooting, and enhancement activities

Act as technical owner and escalation point for critical application issues, ensuring swift resolution and minimal business disruption

Define and maintain application architecture and solution roadmaps for G&A systems (ERP, HRIS, CRM, etc.) ensuring alignment with business strategies and scalability

Evaluate new technologies and drive digital transformation initiatives for G&A functions with a specific focus on automation and AI utilization

Lead change management for technology initiatives, ensuring effective communication and adoption across the organization

Partner with Finance, Legal, HR, and other business units to understand requirements and deliver scalable technological solutions

Oversee and coordinate quarterly, semi‑annual, and annual IT General Controls in accordance with Viridian's SOX compliance requirements

Develop and enforce IT policies and procedures for application management, data integrity, and compliance with SOX and other regulatory standards

Negotiate and manage contracts, securing cost‑effective solutions and maximum service value for software and consulting vendors

Oversee the selection and ongoing management of software and consulting vendors, regularly reviewing vendor performance and contracts to maximize value and mitigate risks

Manage IT budgets and resources, ensuring cost‑effective allocation and alignment with organizational priorities

Qualifications

Minimum of 12 years of IT G&A applications experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL) is preferred

Hands‑on experience with regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA, FDA, GxP, SOX) is a must

Demonstrated success in leading and delivering complex IT projects, including system implementations, enhancements, and digital transformation initiatives, in a fast‑paced, highly regulated environment

Proven track record of aligning IT strategies with organizational goals, managing resources, and driving successful outcomes

Extensive knowledge of IT G&A applications is a must with a deep understanding of industry specific challenges and regulatory requirements

Hands‑on platform experience with NetSuite, Agiloft, and UKG is a plus

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills, with keen attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and collaborate across the organization

Ability to work independently, drive results, and handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment

Strong commitment to ethical standards

Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)

Ability to travel up to 10%

The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience
