Johnson Controls . This position is part of our Sustainable Infrastructure business in the western United States with occasional assignments in Canada. You will secure contracts that focus on municipal water loss reduction and utility-wide water solutions—including advanced metering, leak detection, billing system improvements, customer portals, efficient pumping, and improved water revenue capture.
What You Will Do
Sell JCI water solutions persuasively and confidently to building owners, owner representatives, and C‑level executives, focusing on maximizing share of customer business and renewals of multi‑year agreements.
Build partnering relationships with economic buyers, owners, and decision‑makers, managing the sales process, anticipating customer needs, and speaking their language.
Collaborate with other Johnson Controls sales team members to develop business‑development plans and execute enterprise‑wide strategies.
Initiate contact with prospective customers, develop a network of contacts, and qualify potential customers using proven sales process checkpoints.
Address customers’ financial, operational, and environmental objectives by recommending solutions that match their business challenges and differentiate JCI services from competitors.
Maximize the use of Project Development Engineering resources and coordinate appropriate support (construction management, engineering, finance, legal) to deliver value to customers.
Write, present, and communicate proposals, negotiate value, handle resistance, and close the sale.
Utilize sales tools such as Salesforce, Altify, and Target Account Selling to document progress and increase business opportunities.
Lead the sales process by fostering internal relationships, supporting partners, and acting as the customer’s advocate within JCI to ensure the best value from our offerings.
Assist in developing team sales and marketing plans, implement strategies, and target new customers based on vertical market strategies.
Maintain management on account status, and call for assistance when needed to keep the sales process moving.
Attend trade shows and participate in professional water organizations.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related discipline (MBA preferred).
Five to seven years of progressive field sales experience at the C‑level, ideally in water solutions performance contracts.
High technical knowledge base and experience selling water solutions and performance contracts.
Excellent interpersonal communication, initiative, and the ability to influence key market levels.
Minimum 50% travel.

Salary Range: $104,400 - $134,300 (salary to be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data). This role also offers a competitive Sales Incentive Plan that takes into account project, quarterly, and annual margin. The position includes a competitive benefits package.
