As the
Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Credit Analyst I , you will support a group of Portfolio Managers by preparing analyses of CRE borrowers, including financial statement spreads for both straightforward and moderately complex credits. You will complete written summaries of industry issues, industry research, and prepare relationship data for existing commercial customers or prospects. You will also support credit file maintenance, compliance, and annual review activities. Experience independently performing analysis and modeling functions and preparing the CPS from beginning to end for straightforward loans is expected.
Primary Responsibilities Include
Audit credit files to ensure that all necessary file documentation is present and up to date.
Prepare and submit internal reporting/compliance documentation for assigned portfolio.
Process loan modifications, track and collect ongoing financial reporting, and test covenant compliance.
Assess and confirm the accuracy of risk ratings and recommend changes to Portfolio Manager.
Complete risk rating updates in system as needed.
Develop and recommend potential solutions and alternatives for modifications, including financial covenant structuring.
Engage directly with existing customers after consulting with RM or PM on a specific financial analysis or account management issue.
Accompany RM/PM on client calls periodically and field basic internal questions from Credit independently.
Identify opportunities to cross‑sell bank products and services to existing customers.
Present information in an organized manner to support assigned credits.
Assist with managing the existing portfolio of straightforward to moderately complex credits/customers through collection, analysis, and verification of financial and property level information.
Independently complete the initial draft of a TOS, CPS, Terms & Conditions, Appendices, cash flow coverage, collateral analysis, spreads, risk rating, and profitability models for assigned credits and prospects where the loan request is straightforward.
Prepare relationship data on commercial customers and accurately identify total bank exposure.
Support a particular group of senior PMs in the activities noted above for moderately to very complex credits.
Interpret financial statements, formulate material questions, and draw preliminary conclusions to summarize findings to PM or RM.
Answer financial analysis or modeling questions for other Credit Analysts.
Research and complete written analyses of market data related to existing and prospective borrowers.
Qualifications, Education, Certifications And/or Other Professional Credentials
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; prior experience in commercial credit analysis or financial services preferred.
Proven ability to interpret and analyze financial statements, assess risk ratings, and perform cash flow coverage and collateral analysis for straightforward to moderately complex credits.
Skilled in financial modeling, profitability assessments, and preparing comprehensive credit packages (CPS, TOS, Terms & Conditions, Appendices).
Strong research capabilities with experience producing written summaries of industry trends, borrower profiles, and market data.
Familiarity with credit file audits, covenant testing, and internal reporting requirements; detail‑oriented in maintaining accurate documentation.
Comfortable supporting relationship managers and portfolio managers, including occasional client interactions and identifying cross‑sell opportunities.
Effective communicator with ability to summarize findings, recommend solutions, and support team members with financial analysis inquiries.
Demonstrated ability to work independently on assigned credits, manage multiple tasks, and contribute to portfolio management activities.
