Position Summary Humanity United (HU) is seeking a Manager, Peacebuilding (PB) to lead cross‑team initiatives across the Peacebuilding portfolio. The role includes grantmaking, contracting, and convening work across thematic areas such as building agency for collective action, wellbeing and healing for peace actors, innovative peacebuilding approaches, and inclusive peace processes. The Manager will balance strategic vision with meticulous detail, manage contracts, plan convenings, coordinate partner travel, and maintain visibility across the grantmaking pipeline. The role will also implement team‑wide initiatives, support a partner emergency fund, host grantee convenings, and build convening practices and policies. The Manager will report to the Senior Manager, Peacebuilding, work full‑time (exempt) anywhere in the U.S., attend occasional in‑person gatherings, and manage remote work as hybrid.
Core Job Responsibilities
Collaborate with team members on grantmaking and grants management across the full scope of grantmaking activities.
Support partner meeting and convening logistics, including travel coordination, contracts, and honorarium arrangements.
Assist the Senior Portfolio Director and Senior Manager, PB to maintain visibility across the grantmaking pipeline and provide targeted grantmaking support as needed, including meeting with partners and reviewing proposals.
Manage and implement team initiatives and projects, including strategic planning around team priorities, coordination of stakeholders across multiple time zones, and end‑to‑end meeting and event design.
Contribute to team operations, including budget planning and processes, facilitation, and logistics for events relevant to programmatic activities and projects.
Participate in team learning processes to inform work that contributes to our strategic goals, including learning and check‑in calls with grantees and partners.
Represent HU Peacebuilding publicly at conferences and events.
Research, read widely, and report out on literature and studies relevant to priority programs and the team’s core initiatives for 2026 and 2027, including community philanthropy models, wellbeing, and healing grants.
Engage with experts, donors, government officials, and media within program areas in consultation with senior team leaders.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience with grantmaking, grants management, and/or contract management.
Experience working with Grants Management software; a bonus if you have experience with Smart Simple.
Experience deeply partnering with stakeholders to understand their needs and deploy different programmatic tools (grants, contracts, convenings, etc.).
Knowledge of IRS policies governing 501(c)(3) public charities, private foundations, and 501(c)(4) social welfare organizations.
Experience planning, hosting, and facilitating meetings and events.
Ability to lead processes related to team operations (e.g., grantmaking and/or contracting) with attention to detail.
Experience working with community organizations, nonprofits, or international organizations promoting human rights, peacebuilding, or community development.
Demonstrated experience in peacebuilding, international development, human rights, or humanitarian fields.
Proficiency in Spanish, with the ability to communicate written and orally.
Ability to situate programmatic work within broader intellectual, political, and philanthropic trends.
Experience in strategic program implementation and operations.
Experience coordinating complex projects with multiple stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and accountability across time zones.
Strong interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence, with the ability to work independently and with diverse partners.

Salary The salary range for this position will vary by geographic location to account for local job market and cost of living. Example starting salary ranges are provided below.

Chicago, Denver / Boulder, Philadelphia – $107,225 – $119,139
