Senior Manager – Cloud & AI Strategy at

Overview The Cloud & AI Corporate Strategy team defines the strategy for Microsoft’s Cloud and Artificial Intelligence business. The team builds a track record of spotting trends early and using those insights to drive Microsoft’s strategy and direction. The group focuses on three main activity sets: thought leadership on major technology shifts (e.g., cloud, digital transformation), translating strategy into product reality across Azure, AI, Copilots, business applications, healthcare, and SaaS, and partnering with product groups on generative AI strategy.
Responsibilities
Contribute to large strategy projects and define/manage small projects with guidance from Directors.
Manage projects independently and/or in collaboration with a Director.
Develop a deep understanding of Microsoft’s product portfolio, strategic priorities, competitive position, gaps, and opportunities.
Investigate and analyze merger & acquisition, venture funding, and public market trends.
Drive evaluation of Microsoft strategic alternatives (e.g., buy, build, partner) for relevant projects.
Ensure product roadmap, go‑to‑market, integration plans, and related issues are considered.
Synthesize findings into insights that inform business decisions, leveraging executive presence to influence outcomes.
Leverage insights to develop strategic recommendations and provide thought leadership on growth opportunities and strategic issues.
Create frameworks and methodologies to drive problem solving and insights.
Communicate insights to senior business leaders via written documents, meetings, and presentations, building end‑to‑end storylines.
Deliver project findings and implications to senior executives to facilitate discussions and decision making.
Establish and maintain key contacts with internal teams (Finance, Marketing, Engineering) and manage relationships with project stakeholders and business partners.
Build executive relationships at Director and GM levels and act as an advisor to senior leadership on expertise areas.
Required / Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related field AND at least 3 years of experience in marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, B2B or B2C technology, product management, or partner organization.
OR Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Liberal Arts, Computer Science, or related field AND at least 4 years of similar experience.
OR equivalent experience.
2+ years of experience with management consulting, scaling a business, incubation, driving change in a large company, and/or entrepreneurship.
Preferred / Additional Qualifications
6+ years of experience in strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, B2B or B2C technology product management, marketing, or partner organization.
4+ years of experience with management consulting, scaling a business, incubation, driving change in a large company, and/or entrepreneurship.
3+ years of experience in Strategy and/or Finance.
Compensation Business Strategy IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 – $203,600 per year. In the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City Metropolitan Area the range is USD $137,600 – $222,600 per year.
