Bits to Atoms Company Overview Hybron Technologies is a defense technology startup pioneering a new manufacturing method for fiber-reinforced polymer composites that enables complex parts to be produced with greater strength, higher quality, and at 10 - 100x the speed of traditional methods. Our backers include Northrop Grumman, and we are actively fulfilling major purchase orders for the DoD and several major defense primes. Our current focus is applying our proprietary process to artillery shell production – one of the most mission-critical needs facing the DoD today, and essential to maintaining deterrence. About the Role This is a full-time, in-person role at our El Segundo pilot facility. As a Senior Automation Engineer, you’ll design, prototype, and deploy automation systems that reduce cycle time, improve consistency, and enable 24/7 operation. You’ll own Hybron’s automation roadmap, working hands-on with machines, sensors, and tooling to scale production of mission-critical components for aerospace, defense, and energy. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced, hardware-heavy environments, enjoys rapid prototyping, and works seamlessly with engineers, operators, and leadership. What we’re looking for Must be a U.S. Person pursuant to EAR and ITAR definitions Build and deploy automation for composites manufacturing — motion control, robotics, PLCs, and sensors. Rapidly prototype hardware/software solutions and debug systems on the floor. Program control systems (ladder logic, structured text, Python/C++). Comfortable wiring, testing, and iterating electromechanical systems. Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related field; 5+ years in automation. Define and own Hybron’s automation roadmap. Deploy fully automated composites production cells. Build and lead a cross-functional automation team. Work directly with defense and aerospace customers on reliability and traceability.
