WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are seeking a Distinguished Engineer to join a team passionate about building and operating technology applications that power supply chain operations for Nike. This senior technical leadership role will own the transformation of critical applications that drive Nike’s profitability.
A successful candidate will be an engineering thought leader and coach with deep technical expertise. They will mentor and coach multiple engineering teams, resolving complex technical, business, and organizational challenges, and building collaborative engineering culture. They will have a proven track record of delivering modern supply chain applications that leverage data, machine learning, and AI, and will make strategic build/buy decisions across all layers of the supply chain stack.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON In this role you will translate business strategies into technical direction and lead the implementation of the following applications:
Warehouse management solutions
Warehouse automation solutions
Logistics Optimization – Inbound Transportation Management and Trade
Logistics Optimization – Outbound Transportation Management and Carrier integrations
Inventory availability and order fulfillment
Customer Order Management and returns
Collaborate with engineering teams in GAME, ED&AI, ERP, and others to modernize integration practices
Lead decisions on build/buy, design, engineering patterns, DevOps, and AI/ML strategy for supply chain applications
Define measurable metrics for speed, resilience, cost, information security, and agility across the domain
Serve as a technical leader for sophisticated multi‑functional initiatives and feasibility analysis
Lead migration of existing infrastructure to cloud and edge environments
Diagnose complex technical issues in supply chain applications
Develop technical roadmaps aligned with strategic goals
Mentor engineers on cloud architecture, security, and performance best practices
Advise senior management on emerging technologies and applications in software engineering, data, and AI/ML
Establish software engineering best practices for a global, 24x7, high‑volume, highly analytical production environment based on metrics‑based KPIs
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH This role reports to the VP of Supply Chain and Planning and partners closely with domain teams (Product and Engineering), ED&AI, GAME, ERP, the Distinguished Engineering Community, and key global stakeholders. The work spans all supply chain applications worldwide.
WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
15+ years of software engineering experience as an individual contributor using Java, Python, Rust, and/or JavaScript.
7+ years of professional experience with AWS or another major cloud provider.
5+ years in a lead engineering role constructing and maintaining supply chain applications in retail or adjacent industries, including scaled deployment of WMS and TMS.
7+ years of experience working with high‑scale businesses that require complex data infrastructure.
Proven engineering life‑cycle management of software infrastructure.
Experience in a product‑oriented culture.
Prior experience leading engineering teams through major technology transitions.
