The salary range for this position is $99,000 - $124,000 per year. Offered salary is dependent upon experience and San Francisco location. SUMMARY We are currently seeking a mid-level Packaging Production Artist to join our creative packaging team. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Packaging Production Artist who can seamlessly join a highly productive and fast paced environment with keen eye for design, typography and attention to detail.
This position is a hybrid-on site role in the San Francisco Bay Area that requires three days a week in office and reports to the Director of Packaging Print Production.
This is NOT a graphic design role. Candidates without packaging print production experience will not be considered. Beauty experience is preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Comfortable following strict brand guidelines as well as be able to manipulate graphics creatively when necessary.
Comfortable using hands and tools to mockup pre-production samples and comps when necessary.
Photo retouching and color correction
Work independently and in conjunction with cross-functional teams
CREATE PRINT-READY MECHANICALS
All Packaging Needs - Secondaries, Primaries, Ancillaries, etc.
Shade/Ingredients/UPC labels (Base labels, etc.)
Any additional relevant related print marketing materials
Layout, revise and prep production-ready mechanicals for the vendor
Release files to vendor for both sampling and production
Review and approval of all related print proofs
REQUIREMENTS
Available to work Tues - Thurs on site
5+ years of Print Production Artist experience in Packaging
Proficient in the following software: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign
Basic color CMYK theory and eye for the nuances of color
Highly motivated and able to take initiative
Highly organized and detail-oriented
A team player with strong communication skills
Excellent typography skills
Thorough understanding of various printing processes and manufacturing techniques for both primary and secondary packaging.
Thorough understanding of structure/die-lines
Thriving under pressure while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment - flexibility is a must
Knowledge of common industry printing processes and manufacturing techniques
Packaging experience in the color cosmetics and beauty industries preferred
Comp/prototype experience is a plus.
Previous packaging production experience is required (print-ready mechanicals)
Passion for beauty, fashion and cosmetics preferred
