Summary of Position We are seeking an experienced Supply Chain Manager to lead our integrated supply chain, production planning, and warehouse operations in our lean manufacturing facility specializing in modular home construction. This role combines strategic supply chain management with production planning coordination and hands‑on warehouse oversight to ensure seamless material flow, optimal inventory levels, and efficient production support that keeps our assembly lines running smoothly in our fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities Production Planning & Material Requirements
Develop and maintain master production schedules in coordination with sales forecasts and customer orders
Create detailed material requirements planning (MRP) to ensure 100% material availability for scheduled production units
Coordinate with engineering and design teams to manage bill of materials (BOM) accuracy and engineering change orders
Plan material staging and sequencing to support smooth assembly line flow and minimize production delays
Monitor production capacity and adjust material planning to optimize line utilization and throughput
Implement and maintain production planning systems to track work orders, material consumption, and production milestones
Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to manage delivery commitments and production priorities
Conduct regular material availability reviews and expedite critical components to prevent line stoppages
Supply Chain Management
Develop and execute comprehensive supply chain strategies aligned with lean manufacturing principles and modular home production schedules
Manage supplier relationships for construction materials, fixtures, appliances, and specialized modular home components
Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery terms with vendors while maintaining quality standards
Monitor supplier performance through KPIs including on‑time delivery, quality metrics, and cost effectiveness
Implement and maintain vendor qualification programs and conduct regular supplier audits
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, minimize lead times, and lower total cost of ownership
Warehouse Operations
Oversee daily warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, and material staging for production lines
Implement and maintain warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control processes
Ensure accurate inventory tracking and cycle counting programs to maintain 99%+ inventory accuracy
Design and optimize warehouse layout to support lean manufacturing flow and minimize material handling
Manage warehouse staffing, training, and performance to ensure safety and productivity targets are met
Coordinate with production teams to ensure just‑in‑time material delivery to assembly stations
Oversee shipping and logistics for finished modular home units and component deliveries
Lean Manufacturing Integration
Apply lean principles including 5S, kanban systems, and value stream mapping to supply chain processes
Lead kaizen events and continuous improvement projects focused on material flow optimization
Implement pull systems and reduce work‑in‑process inventory while maintaining production flow
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to identify and eliminate supply chain‑related waste
Support production schedule adherence through proactive material planning and expediting
Leadership and Collaboration
Lead, mentor, and develop supply chain and warehouse team members
Partner with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to resolve material and logistics issues
Provide regular reporting on supply chain metrics, cost savings, and operational performance
Support new product introductions and facility expansion projects
Qualifications Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field
5+ years of supply chain management experience, preferably in manufacturing environments
3+ years of warehouse operations management experience
Experience in construction, building materials, or modular/prefab manufacturing strongly
Technical Skills
Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and warehouse management systems
Advanced knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
Strong analytical skills with experience in supply chain modeling and optimization
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting
Knowledge of transportation management and logistics coordination
Leadership and Soft Skills
Proven ability to lead and develop cross‑functional teams
Excellent negotiation and vendor management capabilities
Strong problem‑solving skills with ability to work under pressure
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and project management abilities
Ability to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities
Additional Qualifications
Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, MBA, or related advanced degree
Professional certifications such as APICS SCOR, CPIM, or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
Experience with modular construction methods, building codes, and construction material specifications
Knowledge of DOT regulations and specialized transportation requirements for oversized loads
Previous experience implementing lean manufacturing systems in warehouse environments
Familiarity with sustainable and green building material sourcing
Working Conditions
Manufacturing facility environment with occasional warehouse floor presence required
Standard business hours with flexibility for supplier coordination across time zones
Occasional travel to supplier locations and industry trade shows (up to 15%)
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and navigate warehouse environments safely
