Be among the first 25 applicants. This role is part of Form Energy, a company developing iron‑air battery energy storage. The position focuses on designing battery cell, module, and system enclosures, ensuring high‑volume manufacturability and structural integrity. Base Pay Range
$128,700.00/yr – $168,000.00/yr We are a company recognized by TIME, MIT Technology Review, and Fast Company. We have contracts with leading utilities and are building a manufacturing facility in West Virginia. We're building a team of talented, driven individuals. This role is an exciting opportunity to scale out our multi‑day energy storage system and contribute to a sustainable future. What You’ll Do
Create white‑page designs that form the foundation of Gen 2 product designs. Perform hands‑on prototyping of designs and collaborate with broader teams to build integrated prototypes. Work with consulting companies, vendors, manufacturing engineers and technical operations to transition designs from prototype to high‑volume production. Perform bench testing, hand calculations and FEA to inform specs and future design direction. Release designs consistent with company and team best practices (drawings, tolerance analysis, etc). Drive verification testing of your design work. Perform failure root‑cause analysis on systems and assemblies. Travel up to 20% to other Form Energy offices or vendor sites. What You’ll Bring
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Bachelor's with 6+ years industry experience in mechanical design. Experience leading design work for complex mechanical systems and structural design, using FEA for structural analysis. Proficiency in computer‑aided design (CAD), specifically SolidWorks modeling and drafting using GD&T (ASME Y14.5). Proficiency in component design for mass manufacturing and assembly (DFMA), especially sheet metal, stampings, weldments and extruded components. Proficiency with prototyping techniques and working in a machine shop environment. Familiarity with mechanical verification testing. Familiarity with electro‑mechanical systems, power electronics, or batteries is a plus. Humanity is a cornerstone of Form Energy’s culture.
