Director Government Relations (U.S.) – GoDaddy Location:

GoDaddy is looking for a highly strategic Director of Government Relations to drive our policy efforts from Washington, DC. In this role, you’ll serve as our main connection to US policymakers, helping build the future of the internet while supporting entrepreneurs nationwide. Reporting to our Vice President of Corporate and Government Affairs, you’ll work closely with leaders across the company to spot regulatory risks and opportunities, design advocacy strategies, lead federal engagement, and manage relationships with Congress, federal agencies, state Attorneys General, and the White House.

Responsibilities

Work with teams across GoDaddy to identify policy trends and regulatory developments with the potential to influence our business.

Analyze the legislative landscape, gather competitive insights, and develop clear, actionable roadmaps that align with our company goals.

Brief senior leaders on the effects of policy and help inform business decisions.

Cultivate lasting connections with federal policymakers, including members of Congress, agency officials, and White House staff.

Engage with state and local leaders when needed, representing GoDaddy at public events, policy forums, and industry gatherings.

Coordinate with external partners and consultants to improve our policy reach.

Build and implement advocacy campaigns inspiring change in pivotal policy areas related to GoDaddy and our customers.

Draft policy statements, regulatory comments, and recommendations.

Guide our participation in hearings and regulatory meetings, monitor federal developments in order to keep teams informed, prepared, and ready to act.

Build partnerships with trade associations and advocacy groups and lead coalitions that advance our shared goals.

Oversee GoDaddy’s participation in industry groups and standards bodies to keep us at the forefront of policy conversations.

Report on the value and outcomes of government relations engagements to executive leadership.

Monitor results, findings, and adherence to all regulatory requirements.

Lead and mentor our Senior Manager for Government Relations (Europe/Global), ensuring global alignment.

Work with colleagues on cross‑regional advocacy and cultivate strategic relationships in global policy forums such as ICANN.

Qualifications

8+ years of government relations, public affairs, or regulatory experience, including at least 5 years managing U.S. federal policy issues and a strong background in technology, digital policy, or telecommunications – ideally with international or cross‑border exposure.

Experience guiding advocacy campaigns and fostering relationships with a variety of collaborators, from decision makers to industry allies, and an outstanding understanding of U.S. legislative and regulatory processes; familiarity with EU and global policy frameworks is a plus.

Proven ability to brief senior leadership, write clearly for diverse audiences, analyze complex policy issues, and be proficient with government relations tools, CRM platforms, and research analytics.

Experience leading teams or consultants.

Comfortable traveling domestically and internationally as needed.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
