As a Battery Research Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of next‑generation devices by driving the research and development of advanced battery technologies. In this role, you will lead the creation and execution of technical roadmaps and strategies for innovative battery solutions that power future AR and XR devices. Base Pay Range $177,000.00/yr - $251,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
Lead and contribute to research teams developing advanced battery technologies, from concept through to prototype.
Define and execute research roadmaps in partnership with internal and external collaborators.
Drive the transfer of promising battery technologies from research to product development, supporting new technology introduction (NTI) and new product introduction (NPI) projects.
Lead and contribute to battery modeling efforts, including electrochemical modeling, materials modeling, and/or AI/ML for materials discovery.
Design and execute experiments to support model development and validation.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with research, engineering, and manufacturing partners.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical, Materials, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
5+ years of experience leading projects and programs, including cross‑functional partners.
2+ years of experience developing program direction and strategy.
5+ years of experience in battery development for electric vehicles, consumer electronics, or related fields.
5+ years of experience with battery modeling (e.g., physics‑based material or electrochemistry modeling, AI/ML for materials discovery).
5+ years of experience designing and executing experiments for model development and validation.
5+ years of experience driving research, development, and/or manufacturing projects with third‑party partners.
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years industry experience in battery development for electric vehicles or consumer electronics devices.
5+ years industry experience with battery modeling for consumer electronics or electric vehicles (e.g., physics‑based battery material or electrochemistry modeling, AI/ML development for battery materials discovery).
Proven understanding of battery cell materials, chemistry, and manufacturing processes for consumer electronics.
Demonstrated experience solving complex problems across technical domains.
Proven track record of balancing strategic planning with detailed execution, including leading teams and contributing as an individual contributor.
Experience with battery and materials characterization techniques (e.g., electrochemical cell characterization, cyclic voltammetry, EIS, XPS, FTIR, etc.).
