Job Description WMATA seeks a strategic, detail‑oriented Director of Financial Reporting to join the Office of Management and Budget Services (OMBS). This pivotal role supports the development and presentation of WMATA’s $5 billion budget and coordinates key financial materials for the Metro Board of Directors, the Federal Government, and regional partners. As Director, you will oversee the annual budget book and lead reporting efforts on expenses, revenues, and subsidies. You will shape the financial transparency and accountability of one of the nation’s largest transit systems, connecting communities and promoting economic growth across the Washington metropolitan region.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Public Administration or related management field.

Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible management experience overseeing budgets, planning, management and administration of programs, projects and financial reporting.

Summary The Director, Financial Reporting is responsible for reporting and communicating WMATA’s financial plans and strategic goals; developing integrated documentation and stakeholder presentations. The incumbent supervises, originates, coordinates and provides oversight for reporting and communicating authority‑wide budgeting and financial management activities, as directed by the Managing Director, OMBS.

Essential Functions

Plan, direct, coordinate and manage financial documentation and communication activities for office branch managers; supervise subordinates, recommend applicant selection, enforce disciplinary actions, resolve grievances, assign duties, direct work and ensure staff training.

Serve as lead for monthly and quarterly financial document development, performance reporting and communications to senior leadership and key stakeholders.

Plan, direct, coordinate and evaluate the preparation of financial documents presented to senior leadership, Budget Committees and the Board.

Develop, manage and implement integrated financial communication plans and documents in support of WMATA’s business plans.

Provide strategic counsel on financial communications content to executive leadership; partner with senior leaders to develop accurate messaging.

Set standards for message content, consistency and tone in line with organizational goals.

Establish work goals for subordinates, measured against performance plans and evaluations.

Coordinate extensively with local jurisdictions in planning, evaluation, development, negotiation and management of financial communications supporting jurisdictional contributions and reporting.

Assist in shaping financial plans, budgets and programs to convey financial integrity and uphold public trust.
