Purpose Role is responsible for designing, planning, and executing large‑scale data analysis and algorithm development to identify gaps in the care continuum and to measure impact using real‑world data and evidence (RWD/E). This work highlights the value of utilizing real‑world data to inform and/or address strategic questions in the disease areas of interest to AbbVie.
The role involves the application of real‑world evidence study design, statistical theories, analytical methods, and technical programming skills to analyze clinical, survey, claims, and electronic medical record databases. Members support the department as a technical subject‑matter expert on RWE analytics and act as a point of contact for the MHI Enterprise across all therapeutic areas.
Candidates are expected to standardize coding conventions, streamline processes, and translate complex data into clear visualizations for less technical audiences. They should also creatively apply RWD/E and advanced analytics approaches such as machine learning to propose solutions to complex business questions.
Responsibilities
Act as the analytics lead for the MHI Enterprise (all therapeutic areas) to mitigate, resolve, and triage analytical complexities supporting care‑gap analytics needs for medical engagement.
Present results of analysis and key takeaways for audiences with varying technical skill and level within the organization.
Identify appropriate internal and external data resources and external expertise to execute strategies and research activities.
Develop and execute analysis plans, and be responsible for study design.
Work with Medical Engagement to understand key impact variables and use RWD to quantify and operationalize these variables.
Ensure meeting timelines in complex matrix structure by developing and maintaining effective cross‑functional working relationships.
Interact with Medical Engagement, Business Unit TAs, HEOR Strategy, and RWE CoE to communicate findings and evidence strategically.
Translate therapeutic‑area business needs into project concepts to develop analysis plan and corresponding analyses.
Utilize good coding, development, and documentation practices to ensure robust creation and maintenance of care‑gap analytics projects.
Qualifications
Masters degree in statistics or related discipline required; PhD preferred.
Minimum of 3‑5 years experience in analytic programming (SAS, SQL, R, Python) and observational study analysis (claims, survey, clinical, EMR); Python and machine learning experience preferred.
Ability to incorporate production code macros and execute programming assignments independently, and present complex research clearly to stakeholders.
Experience training in advanced scientific and analytical methods in real‑world evidence generation.
Ability to perform urgent analyses with short turnaround time and collaborate with internal and external partners on joint projects.
Professional training in healthcare field, experience in analysis of large medical claims datasets or prior experience in UNIX/Hadoop environment preferred.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
