Job Description L3Harris is seeking a Senior Scientist, Systems Engineer that is a proven leader and SIGINT technical subject matter expert. The applicant’s duties will include product development, system architecture, proposal writing, technical oversight, stakeholder collaboration among business development, manufacturing, engineering, and program management, while setting priorities for IRAD development through product roadmaps.
Essential Functions
Assist IRAD team in defining scope for adding capabilities to current products as well as creating new products to address emerging needs.
Collaborate with the different engineering disciplines to ensure that a broad perspective is used in decision‑making.
Work closely with the customer to comprehensively design and implement new system functionality.
Provide Business Development with the material needed to create new business opportunities.
Provide technical oversight for execution of contracts to ensure program goals are achieved.
Participate in proposal teams to align the system approaches for maximum re‑use.
Define ELINT products to support diverse program requirements.
Maintain product roadmaps and set IRAD development priorities.
Coordinate the use of contract budgets to enhance capabilities.
Facilitate the transfer of products from IRAD to production.
Respond to RFIs and RFQs.
Design analog or RF hardware including tuners, receivers, antennas, amplifiers, up/down converters, and randoms.
Define and generate detailed hardware and software specifications for systems, subsystems, and key components.
Use standard Systems Engineering practices to architect, design, and document new systems.
Develop test plans/procedures for various test equipment including anechoic chambers, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers.
Conduct EMI and environmental qualification testing as applicable to aircraft systems.
Communicate effectively and work well in a team environment.
Analyze customer requirements, including system and sub‑system trade studies.
Design digital hardware including FPGAs and processors.
Oversee the entire program/engineering life cycle phases and activities.
Translate requirements down to subsystems and components.
Develop IRAD and Technical Baseline, proposal development, technical communications, requirements management, and interface control documents.
Travel up to 10% of the time.
Obtain and maintain a Top Secret with SCI clearance.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with 15 years of strong leadership experience in Systems and SIGINT/ELINT.
Graduate degree with 13 years of strong leadership experience in Systems and SIGINT/ELINT.
In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 19 years of strong leadership experience in Systems and SIGINT/ELINT.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills
Active Top Secret with SCI.
