Company The Boeing Company is looking for a Lead Software Engineer – Test & Verification to join the USAF E‑7A Mission Systems Software Integration & Test team located in Tukwila, Washington. The position will support the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization, Mobility, Surveillance, and Bombers (MS&B) division.

Position Overview Develop next generation Open Mission Software (OMS) Battle Management Command & Control (BMC2) software for the USAF E‑7A, as well as for other aircraft such as the E‑3 AWACS, 767 AWACS, and 737 Airborne Early Warning & Control Aircraft.

Position Responsibilities

As the Technical Lead Engineer (TLE), oversee the design, development, and completion of test and verification of software products to ensure quality, reliability, and functionality.

Partner with stakeholders and advise on the review and identification of software requirements, test objectives, test strategies, and testability.

Review the design of test plans, cases, and scenarios to meet software requirements and specifications.

Execute test cases and scenarios to verify functionality, performance, and safety of software systems, identifying and reporting defects, issues, and potential vulnerabilities.

Consult on test results and feedback on software design and functionality to resolve defects, issues, and potential vulnerabilities.

Document and maintain test plans, procedures, cases, artifacts, metrics, and data in accordance with data privacy and security protocols and standards.

Lead the development and maintenance of automated test scripts and frameworks to improve efficiency and effectiveness of testing.

Oversee software project management functions across test and verification activities involving multifunctional teams.

Set up and configure test environments, including hardware, software, and network configurations to replicate production environments.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements Requires the ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US citizenship. A post‑start clearance is required. Ability to obtain program access may also be required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

Ability to obtain Special Program Access.

5 years of experience in scripting languages and testing automation.

6 years of experience in real‑time embedded operating systems, Linux.

9+ years of experience in developing and executing Integrated Test Procedures (ITPs) for mission software, focusing on sensor and track management.

9+ years of experience in software testing, integration, and verification, specifically for mission or embedded systems.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

Ability to establish test requirements from supporting documentation, test plans, internal and external customers.

Knowledge of domestic and international regulations (FAA, DOD, NASA) on the certification of test articles/vehicles.

Knowledge of verification, validation, certification and qualification processes and procedures, including governing regulations and compliance requirements.

Ability to assess and document test or analysis data to show compliance.

Knowledge of appropriate customer or governmental regulations relevant to design, test, and certification (e.g., Part 25, MILSPEC).

Knowledge of specification format requirements, guidelines, and change control processes.

Understanding of the relationship between specifications/standards and aircraft/product certification systems.

Knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and systems.

The ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products.

Knowledge of deriving and allocating requirements (e.g., system, subsystem, software) and showing traceability throughout the product lifecycle.

Ability to design and develop automation of software tests, execute automated tests, track results, manage test data, and utilize results to improve software quality.

Knowledge of implementation of software test frameworks, tools, and simulations.

Knowledge of internal and external software test frameworks, architectures, best practices and application in industry.

Knowledge of software practices (configuration control, change management, problem reporting, software design, peer review, testing) and programming languages, operating systems, and computing technology applicable to laboratory and flight test systems.

Knowledge of test program design (design of experiments, test plan development, validation).
