Intelligent Design Engineer
POWER Engineers’ Digital Utility Business Unit is seeking an Intelligent Design Engineer to help build the digital utility of the future. The role is part of the Intelligent Design Department and focuses on system and software implementation for the utility industry. This position reports to the Intelligent Design Department Manager and works directly with utility clients. The role may be performed remotely or from one of our office locations.
Responsibilities
Support team members in completing Intelligent Design/Graphic Work Design implementations through requirement gathering, system design, testing, training, and deployment support.
Work directly with clients and internal resources to lead the development of integrations for GIS and Enterprise applications (e.g., WMS, Document/File Management) with Intelligent Design solutions.
Provide high‑quality written and oral communication internally and with clients.
Advise and mentor technical team members in utility knowledge, demonstrating patience and a desire to share knowledge.
Prepare and present virtual and in‑person workshops, provide training, and use constructive communication skills to elicit feedback and guide team members toward successful project outcomes.
Build long‑term client relationships and facilitate additional business opportunities.
Interface with and support Project Managers on proposals, project work, resource allocations, and personnel.
Travel up to 25% of the time.
Required Education & Experience
3+ years of experience working with utility data and data modeling (electric, gas, water, wastewater, stormwater, fiber).
Experience viewing, creating, and configuring utility GIS data.
Experience performing GIS data migration and transformation using standard tools (Esri Data Loading Tools, FME, Append, etc.) and custom scripts (Python, SQL).
Experience with data integration including importing data from spreadsheets, databases, and geodatabases.
3+ years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
Excellent communication, organizational, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills.
Project implementation lifecycle experience (Requirements, Design, Development, Testing, Training, Deployment).
Desired Education & Experience
Experience with Intelligent Design/Graphic Work Design software: Spatial Business Solutions (AUD, UDH, Model Map, etc.), GSI Digital Design Suite, Schneider ArcFM Designer.
Experience with Safe Software’s FME and custom ETL tool development.
Experience with Esri ArcGIS software (ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, Field Maps, etc.).
Experience with Schneider Electric’s ArcFM Product Suite.
Knowledge of engineering modeling tools (Milsoft, Spidacalc, Osmose).
Experience migrating data between different platforms.
Knowledge of SCADA, ADMS, OMS, and Work Management Systems.
Familiarity with utility work processes and documenting processes using Microsoft Visio or Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect.

Compensation Base salary range: $85,000 – $115,000 per year. The final compensation will depend on experience and qualifications. In addition, the role includes a full benefit package as listed above.
