RightWorks is looking for Highway Engineer (Junior) and Senior Highway Engineers / PM in Tampa, Fort Lauderdale & Orlando, FL metro areas for one of the nation’s leading civil construction firms with a multi-billion dollar backlog of work.
The successful Highway Engineer (Junior) candidate will prepare and manage tasks associated with highway designs for a variety of project types, from preliminary concepts to final construction plans. H&H is looking for a candidate that displays good engineering judgement, takes pride in their work, takes initiative, and wants the opportunity to work on challenging projects.
This Senior Highway Engineer / PM position will lead our engineering team in our Orlando or Tampa office, primarily serving south Florida. In this position you will be responsible for winning work, recruiting, and developing / growing team members. A strong background in Florida DOT District's 4 and 6 design policies and procedures is preferred
Responsibilities (Highway Engineer / Junior)
Utilize 3D design to prepare roadway, drainage and Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) designs, calculations and drawings
Approach tasks with an open mindset; propose innovative solutions to design problems
Prepare engineering reports
Assign, track, and review tasks of technicians or designers
Serve as the Engineer-of-Record
Responsible for task management
Communicate effectively with team members, internal design groups, and external entities including clients, subconsultants, and relevant government agencies
Effectively present proposed design solutions as part of internal project meetings; may attend and contribute to presentations with external parties
Contribute to the development of other team members through mentorship and positive behaviors
Responsibilities (Senior Highway Engineer / PM)
Regularly markets services to current and prospective clients to assist in the creation of letters of response and technical proposals / presentations
Oversee engineering designs including geometric alignments, profiles, cross-sections, construction, and maintenance of traffic details
Oversee the creation of engineering documents including typical section packages, pavement
Design reports, and variation / exception report
Perform MicroStation / GEOPAK / Open roads processes to develop and grow team members.
Coordinate plans, calculations, and specifications amongst multi-discipline engineering teams.
Perform internal quality control procedures
Requirements (Highway Engineer / Junior)
Four+ years of experience
Professional Engineer (PE) License desired or obtain within six months of hire
Proficiency in Microstation and OpenRoads processes
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis
Requirements (Senior Highway Engineer / PM)
Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college
Florida Professional Engineering Registration
Minimum of ten years experience
Proficiency in Microstation / GEOPAK / Open Roads processes
Experience with 3D Corridor Modeling is a plus
Knowledge of FDOT plans preparation criteria and design standards
Knowledge of other transportation disciplines and their relationship to roadway design
Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills
Ability to train and mentor entry-level staff
Must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis
