Senior Electrical Engineer

Salary: $120,000 - $200,000 per year

Our full-service Architectural and Engineering (A‑E) firm supports Department of Defense, Federal Government, and Private Sector clients across the United States. We are looking for an experienced Sr. Electrical Engineer IV (or III with appropriate experience) to work out of our Charlotte, NC office, with the possibility to work from Atlanta, Georgia.

Job Details We are currently seeking a Sr. Electrical Engineer IV or III with a PE License to design and perform QC of electrical and communications projects for military, commercial, and industrial building and infrastructure construction.

You will leverage your extensive experience and technical expertise and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop innovative solutions that integrate seamlessly with architectural designs.

Key responsibilities include design requirements, preparation of design plans, project specifications, cost estimates, inspection of construction projects, quality review of subcontractor designs, and close interaction with a multidisciplinary staff of engineers and scientists.

In this role you will also delegate, plan and execute, manage scopes, schedules, and budgets, mentor and train junior‑level employees, and take projects from beginning to end.

Responsibilities

Prepare designs for Electrical and Communications projects.

Evaluate, select and apply engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment to make substantial engineering adaptations and modifications.

Plan, design and oversee projects for substantial new construction, renovation and improvement projects for real property facilities with specialized or unique requirements.

Conduct site visits to document conditions.

Lead the preparation of written reports.

Perform QC of designs for electrical and communications projects.

Serve as a technical consultant concerning facilities planning, design, construction and/or maintenance for different categories of facilities.

Determine resources and perform long‑range planning.

Delegate tasks and plans; execute and manage scopes, schedules and budgets.

Serve as responsible charge of projects (DOR).

Review consultant‑prepared design drawings and prepare technical specifications, ensuring compliance with regulatory acts.

Prepare specifications for construction cost estimates.

Evaluate contract bids, make recommendations regarding feasibility studies and assist in managing large‑scale construction projects.

Prepare project budgets and schedules for proposal efforts.

Use construction inspection report data to prepare payment estimates for contractors.

Mentor junior‑level staff.

Education & Requirements

BS in Electrical Engineering.

Current Professional Engineering license (North Carolina or Georgia) and ability to be licensed by comity in other states.

Minimum 20 years of Electrical and Communications Design experience.

Extensive knowledge of applicable design and building codes.

Experience administering and managing construction contracts.

RCDD preferred (not required).

LEED AP certification preferred (not required).

Computer proficiency in Revit/AutoCAD, Excel, Word, and discipline‑specific software.
