Job Description Structural Welders join metal components as specified by layout, blueprints, diagram, work order, welding procedures, or verbal instructions, using hand and powered hand tools, and welding equipment. They must be familiar with OSHA requirements for safety and hot work onboard naval vessels.
Duties & Responsibilities
Successfully completion welding qualification requirements using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) using ceramic backing.
Setup and adjust various welding equipment and associated accessories.
Ability to interpret welding symbols-based on the AWS Welding Symbols.
Familiarity with the workmanship requirements of MIL-STD-1689A, Fabrication, Welding, and Inspection of Ships Structure.
Ability to visually inspect fillet using a fillet weld gauge and butt or groove welds for acceptance.

Education / Experience Required
Must be 18 years old.
Must be able to work in the US.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Completed a structured welding program.
Must have a valid California driver's license.
Must be able to obtain a DBIDS credentials.
Must possess basic skills (reading, writing and mathematical skills).
Additional Qualifications
A plus, previous experience in a ship repair environment.
Understand the Naval Ship Repair requirements and working environment.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position requires 40+ hours of work per week. M-F 0600 - 1430 (or as otherwise assigned by Project Manager) with pre-scheduled overtime as needed.
Work Environment This job operates in a shipyard work environment.
Travel This position does require ability to travel.
Physical Demands Must be available to work at heights, confined spaces and have ability to climb staircases and ladders of varying sizes.
May involve carrying objects that weigh up to 50 lbs., frequent stooping, bending, crawling, reaching, and walking.
Security Clearance Requirements
Completion of a satisfactory background check
Passing a drug test and physical examination
Eligibility to work in the US.
Obtaining DBIDS level security clearance.
OSHA 10 Maritime
