Job Description The Part-Time Adjunct Instructor will report directly to the Department Head of Curriculum and Instruction. The Adjunct Instructor will be responsible for serving as (1) the liaison between the university and the school district, (2) the instructor for the college courses and mentor teacher training, and (3) the instructional coach for their teacher candidates admitted into the Teacher Education program.
Salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.
University‑School Liaison
Collaborate with district/county and school administrators to select high‑quality mentor teachers.
Analyze, interpret, and respond to bi‑weekly mentor surveys.
Conduct quarterly mentor‑teacher trainings with the support of your professional development coach.
Instructor
Teach 1–2 course sections each semester, including 1 section of the student teaching course.
Maintain regular communication with program faculty.
Instructional Coach for teacher candidates
Supervise one cohort (n = 10‑25) of teacher candidates.
Ensure accurate entry of performance assessment ratings.
Professional Development
Attend and participate in coordinator training and ongoing professional development meetings.
Attend college faculty and program meetings to contribute and share evaluation ratings of teacher candidates.
Professional Attributes
Follow all rules and guidelines established by the district/county for acceptable professional conduct and dress.
Establish and maintain mutual respect, trust, communication, and confidentiality with teacher candidates and school/district personnel.
Maintain a frequent, recurring presence in the school sites.
Demonstrate commitment to all learners.
Exhibit a growth mindset toward future educators and school sites.
Ability to be flexible and coach mentors and candidates from a strengths‑based perspective.
Required Education and Experience
Master’s Degree in an education‑related field.
Ph.D. preferred.
3 years K‑12 and/or higher education experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong communication skills.
Disposition for technology use and collaborative, school‑based initiatives.
