Archives Media Support Archivist/Cataloger Position
Echo Services Inc. is seeking a video support archivist and cataloger within a large corporate archives. The ideal candidate is a motivated, curious, and highly organized individual. This position will work closely with the Media Archivist to implement best practices in the cataloging and preservation of the archives’ video collection.
This is an on-site, full-time, Monday-Friday position located in Redmond, WA.
Essential Functions
Extensively utilize Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Copilot to perform professional-level arrangement and description of archival video assets, including applying AI-assisted tools to support metadata creation and workflow efficiency.
Contribute to AI-focused meetings and initiatives to support innovation in archival workflows.
Respond to client requests in support of the Media Archivist; includes researching collections, identifying files, and delivering requested assets.
Assist with video catalog maintenance tasks, including processing backlogged digital video materials, reviewing records in accordance with retention policies and updating metadata.
Transfer digital video files from servers or external hard drives to permanent storage for long-term preservation.
Perform professional-level cataloging for physical video tape collection.
Perform tape-to-digital conversion and video file compression as needed.
Maintain hard drive storage systems, including updating and managing the hard drive finding aid.
Help develop and maintain documentation and metrics; implement new processes and requirements to reflect program growth and development.
Ensure all projects and workflows comply with contractual obligations and meet current service level agreement requirements; collect and report weekly metrics to management.
Undertake additional video support projects as assigned by Media Archivist.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS), related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Solutions driven to learn and adapt by applying AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot to enhance workflows and improve deliverables.
Detail-oriented team player with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and adapt to shifting priorities throughout the workday.
Highly organized with the ability to track and report complex metrics.
Professional and positive approach to customer service responsibilities.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, especially in search and retrieval tasks.
Ability to meet deadlines and consistently apply policies and procedures.
Proficient in Microsoft Copilot and Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint; able to learn new software and systems independently.
Comfortable handling digital media hardware and peripherals.
Quick to grasp and implement policies and procedures provided through on-the-job training.
Cataloging experience and familiarity with databases, digital asset management systems, and integrated library systems preferred.
Knowledge of video file formats and video production terminology is a plus.
Physical Requirements As this is a working archives there is a modest amount of manual labor required of all team members. With this position there will be times when lifting and moving asset boxes that can weigh up to 40 pounds could be required.
