Controller The Controller manages the accounting department of TruFit Athletic Clubs. The Controller is a “hands‑on” position and is expected to prepare month‑end journal entries, balance‑sheet reconciliations, and collaborate with the finance department as well as club and district level leaders. The Controller is expected to be self‑motivated, self‑reliant, organized, driven to succeed, and able to handle concurrent projects and assignments while working within a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Leadership Team (“SLT”) member, partner closely with SLT to provide timely and accurate financial data so they can effectively manage their areas of responsibility.
Manage the month‑end‑close process accurately and in a timely manner in conjunction with corporate deadlines.
Prepare monthly and annual reconciliations and financial reports and statements to ensure compliance with various statutory requirements, generally accepted accounting principles, and established policies and procedures.
Maintain accurate records of fixed assets and other financial data.
Maintain accounting controls and audit documents.
Prepare journal entries and maintain and reconcile accounts.
Assist in the preparation of various special reports as directed.
Oversee the timely payment and accuracy of sales and use tax returns.
Assist with external audit requests and provide information as requested.
Assist in the review for proper accounting treatment for all transactions.
Provide technical accounting support to various departments.
Assist with the development, review, and updating of accounting policies, procedures, checklists, and related documentation concerning assigned functions and responsibilities.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
Requirements
Strong passion for the fitness industry.
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, or related field. CPA a plus.
Minimum 10 years of Accounting/Finance experience, including previous supervisory experience.
Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the full accounting cycle.
Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite of products – Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Experience with Sage Intacct or other similar multi‑entity integrated accounting software.
Well organized, proactive, must be able to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced, quickly changing environment.
Ability to adhere to the highest standards of confidentiality and discretion in all proprietary business, financial, and employee matters.
Ability to adhere to a high level of attention to detail.
Ability to maintain open, direct, positive, and objective lines of communication with management.
