Description The Oneida Technology Services (OTS) division is hiring a
Junior Network Engineer
to support a large, complex program at the Vandenberg Space Force Base. The role involves assisting senior engineers, designing and implementing network solutions, and ensuring secure, reliable deployments.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Journeyman and Senior Network Engineers with tasks and project delivery.
Support design, configuration, and implementation of data networks based on customer specifications.
Conduct site surveys and network assessments to select optimal hardware and software for upgrades.
Contribute to preliminary and final SPRIP development; support system pre‑tests and acceptance tests to validate designed performance criteria.
Ensure installations meet safety standards and site cleanliness, restoring sites to original or better condition.
Apply routing protocol knowledge (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP).
Create RMF artifacts such as topology/data flow diagrams, hardware/software lists, STIG checklists, port/protocol/service definitions, and POA&Ms.
Design and implement secure network, system, and application architectures; support network management (SNMP, SYSLOG, orchestration).
Maintain LOM documentation to capture component and installation details for successful system deployment.
Assist O&M teams with post‑deployment network troubleshooting.
Gather and analyze system requirements to design secure, scalable network solutions.
Support local Communication Squadron and/or regional cybersecurity teams during configuration, turn‑up, and cutover of new deployments.
Minimum Qualifications
Technical BA/BS with at least 3 years experience as a Network Engineer on large, complex programs.
High School diploma or associate degree with at least 5 years experience as a Network Engineer on large, complex programs.
Specific Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with team members and customers.
Certifications
CCNA or equivalent.
CompTIA Security+.
Security Clearance Secret.
Compensation $40–44 per hour plus benefits.
