Design Release Engineer
Detroit Engineered Products is looking for a Design Release Engineer to develop components and systems from initial design concept through full volume production. The Engineer will provide feasibility input, establish development timelines, develop functional and build objectives, and lead design using Teamcenter/NX CAD tools. They will validate virtual designs using CAE resources, perform physical validation testing, manage documentation, plan tool construction, support production launch, and conduct root cause analysis for assembly issues. The role also includes warranty analysis, cost reduction opportunities, and safety compliance documentation.
Pay range: $42.96/yr – $42.96/yr (base pay range noted).
Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in automotive system development or related area.
Proficient in CAD software (Teamcenter, NX, Vis Pro) and PLM systems.
Strong knowledge of elastomeric materials (EPDM, TPV, TPE) and sealing system functions.
Familiarity with GD&T, DFMEA, DVP&R, tolerance stack up, and typical automotive validation testing (dust, water, noise).
Excellent problem‑solving and project management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Self‑motivated individual.
Demonstrated passion to work in the automotive industry.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
Experience working directly with OEM or Tier 1 sealing suppliers.
Experience with problem solving such as Red‑X.
Experience with robust design such as DFSS.
