Our client, a utility company, is seeking a proactive professional to take on both technical and administrative responsibilities for overseeing and maintaining the entire IT Infrastructure portfolio. This includes managing vital components such as Windows, Linux, Active Directory, and various physical, virtual, and cloud-based environments. As a senior team member, this role will lead planning, develop policies, and ensure system integrity. Responsibilities encompass monitoring current solutions, implementing new systems and upgrades, deploying enhancements, and performing essential maintenance tasks.

Duties

Maintain and develop the IT Infrastructure Group’s lifecycle operations.

Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the functionality and administration of the IT infrastructure portfolio, including servers & appliances, electronic communications, physical environment, virtual systems, cloud-based infrastructure, Microsoft products, non-enterprise applications, webservers, backup & recovery, monitoring & performance tools, identity management, and automation supporting technology support.

Administer Active Directory (AD), including user accounts, Group Policy Objects (GPO), DNS, DHCP, and authentication services.

Maintain secure operations of related infrastructure hardware and software through deployment and management of security and improvement patches and updates.

Anticipate, respond to, and identify technology/business needs by implementing new technologies, hardware, software, processes, applications, and services.

Develop, implement, and administer software, tools, and procedures to monitor, alert, report on, and remediate issues within IT infrastructure.

Draft, analyze, and implement IT infrastructure related technology, requirements, rules, processes, information flow, project plans, recommendations, specifications, configuration, automation, issue remediation, and enhancements.

Plan and execute corrective efforts to prevent and correct security vulnerabilities within IT infrastructure.

Provide coverage for on‑call 24/7 incident management support for the production environment.

Recommending and adhering to requirements related to IT infrastructure (e.g., OS settings, backups, authentication) based on manufacturer guidance and company policy.

Plan and develop the annual budget, application roadmap, and project schedule.

Support the development and adherence to a roadmap and lifecycle for the IT infrastructure portfolio.

Propose and execute projects and priorities according to strategic and tactical imperatives.

Ensure compliance to controls, policies, and regulatory requirements.

Comply with and support activities initiated by audit and cybersecurity personnel.

Draft and recommend enhancements to, implement, monitor, and adhere to department and company policies, controls, and working practices.

Maintain adherence to disaster recovery plan and recordkeeping.

Perform risk management and coordinate with vendors and advisory services.

Education / Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of five years of experience in system administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

At least 3 years of relevant experience administering virtualization platforms such as VMware (ESXi, vSphere), Microsoft Hyper‑V, Citrix Hyper‑visor, Nutanix AHV, and Linux KVM.

Proven experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, and email administration.

Hands‑on experience managing Microsoft 365 services (Intune, Autopilot, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online).

Familiarity with cloud computing environments, such as Azure or AWS.

Additional Requirements

Experience designing, implementing, and administering all aspects of IT infrastructure through its lifecycle.

Experience working with team members executing complex initiatives.

Ensuring compliance with policies, business requirements, licensing, and contracts.

Providing functional consulting related to technology use supporting IT and business processes.
