Industrial Waste Inspector Senior
The City of Chandler Public Works & Utilities Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as Industrial Waste Inspector Senior. The position is scheduled to work Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
Current City of Chandler employees may hold only one position and are not eligible for additional part-time or secondary positions within the City of Chandler.

Who we are Chandler was the first city in Arizona to receive accreditation of our water and wastewater operations by the American Public Works Association, the toughest accreditation to achieve in the industry. The Utilities Division operates water treatment plants, water wells, booster stations, and wastewater facilities, treating over 64 million gallons of fresh water and over 30 million gallons of wastewater per day. Service is provided to residential, commercial, and industrial users via a network of miles of active water, sewer, and reclaimed water mains.
Who we are looking for We are looking for someone who will work as part of a team performing pre‑treatment inspections, training other inspectors in methodology and the use of equipment, and serving as a technical information resource.
Responsibilities
Perform pre‑treatment inspections of industrial discharges.
Train peers on inspection techniques and equipment use.
Document inspection findings and generate industry reports.
Serve as a technical resource for complex inspection questions.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree or 60 credit hours toward a degree in chemistry, biology, environmental sciences, or a related field.
3 years of experience in chemical testing, monitoring of industrial discharges, wastewater collection systems, or related field.
40‑hour HAZWOPER Certification within 6 months of hire or promotion.
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge and abilities.
Desired Qualifications
Experience writing industrial reports.
Experience conducting industrial sampling.
Experience conducting Fats, Oils, & Grease (FOG) inspections.
Experience reviewing laboratory reports.
Familiarity with EPA federal regulations.
ADEQ Wastewater I or Collections I Certification.
This is a regular full‑time position subject to a 6‑month probationary period. The City will conduct a pre‑employment driving record check, a fingerprinting process, and a drug test. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results.
