Children’s Minnesota is one of the largest pediatric health systems in the United States and the only health system in Minnesota to provide care exclusively to children, from before birth through young adulthood. Department Overview The Human Resources department partners with employees and managers to provide recruitment and staffing, employee services—including benefits, compensation, retirement and payroll—labor relations, HRIS program development, and organizational development.
Position Summary The HR Generalist supports the administration of all HR services, including leave of absence and benefits administration, and delivers exceptional customer service to employees, managers and HR partners.
Responsibilities
Administer leave of absence, benefits, COBRA, and life‑event status changes.
Provide phone coverage for the Employee Service Center, delivering information on a wide variety of HR topics and triaging calls to appropriate centers of excellence.
Process benefits billing and retroactive benefit adjustments.
Update employee status changes and reporting relationships in the operation systems.
Maintain excellent customer service and de‑escalation skills, ensuring timely resolution of inquiries.
Education & Experience
Two‑year AA degree or three years of HR experience without a degree; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Three years of HR generalist experience with emphasis on benefits, disability claims or leave administration.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations affecting employee leave and benefits programs, including FMLA, state leave laws, workers’ compensation, health and welfare plans, retirement plans, COBRA, and qualified life events.
Strong understanding of and ability to administer leave cases and benefits in accordance with Children’s payroll practices, procedures, and benefit plans.
Ability to work with a high sense of urgency while providing exceptional customer service.
Ability to manage complex and escalated issues with confidence and results; adaptability to changing circumstances.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Physical Demands Standard office environment tasks; may require occasional on‑call or weekend work.
Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary range of $100,000.00–$120,000.00 plus medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Eligibility for night, weekend or on‑call shift differentials.
