Job Summary:
This position is responsible for developing and implementing communications services for the AI² Center (Artificial Intelligence Academic Initiative Center). The role is highly independent and oversees all internal and most external communications and contacts; publication and data dissemination; social media strategy and account management; video and podcast productions; organization of program functions; and design and provision of content for websites. The position also manages a marketing and communications specialist and student interns.
Key Responsibilities
Implement comprehensive communications plans for the AI² Center, producing and editing content for print, electronic, video, and audio productions.
Develop and distribute text and graphical content for internal and external audiences, including brochures, one-pagers, briefing documents, social communications, newsletters, print and digital advertisements, banners, and wall graphics.
Analyze AI news at state and national levels and communicate top-interest stories to the AI² Center Leadership team.
Serve as the primary account manager for web and social platforms, manage email responses to the university’s main AI inquiry address.
Provide media support by responding to inquiries and pitching stories to appropriate news outlets.
Maintain AI websites, including ai.ufl.edu, using CMS-Terminal 4, handling design, content editing, and graphics.
Organize and implement conferences and related events, overseeing communications strategy, advertising, abstract review, program development, publishing, and event execution.
Analyze and report on marketing and web communications campaigns, presenting analytics and strategic recommendations.
Expected Salary:
$70,000 – $86,000 annually; commensurate with education and experience.
Required Qualifications Master’s degree in appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience, or bachelor’s degree in appropriate areas of specialization and four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s or bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, communications, journalism, or related field with four years of professional experience.
Experience developing and implementing public relations campaigns, editorial planning, writing, editing, social media, video production, and/or project management coordination.
Experience communicating scientific discoveries and the ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments independently and collaboratively.
Demonstrated teamwork toward organizational objectives.
Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Acrobat Pro, content management systems, HTML, and professional design software.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, proficiency with HTML and CSS languages for website management.
Proficiency in social media and data analytics.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with faculty, students, administrators, and the general public.
