SUMMARY

Responsible for providing supervisory leadership to Business Applications staff, including technical guidance, and workload task assignment. Manages the staffs support of, and use of, enterprise-wide systems that run Alliant Insurance Services, Inc. business. Provides support to our customers, implementation planning, upgrades and support for new business applications. Manage Business Applications staff troubleshooting and ensures appropriate resolution of system/application issues, application vendors and clients. Performs all duties in accordance with all company policies and procedures, and all federal, state and local laws, wherein the Company operates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages, Leads, mentors and trains staff on industry best practices and technical skills.

Resolves escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.

Provides project management level support for multiple projects assigned by the Director of Business Applications.

Manages application configuration and scripts from Accounting for data reorganizations.

Provides detailed technical and customer support for insurance business applications such as agency management systems/applications, claims, policy management systems/applications, System Integrations and financial systems/applications.

Manages and performs application rollouts and upgrades with vendors, end-users, and IT groups.

Provides analysis and problem definition for production issues.

Identifies, manages, and implements system/process improvements.

Writes and delivers custom reports as requested as well as administrative documentation.

Builds and maintains strong business relationships with all levels of staff and management.

Works closely with technical support staff, database administrators, software developers and Business

Applications staff to ensure application readiness and supportability.

Assists in data cleanup activities with users and project team for conversion purposes.

Develops and maintains a high technical knowledge on business applications and underlying technologies.

Develops policies & procedures outlining all aspects of application development and maintenance including life-cycle development strategies, testing and implementation plans, and post-implementation monitoring.

Travels to other Alliant offices, Acquisition offices and Vendors as needed, to support business application projects.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree in computer technology or equivalent combination of education and experience

Ten (10) or more years work experience related to application support for business office applications, system architecture for Internet based applications, relational database architecture, SQL queries and software development lifecycle SDLC

Insurance industry experience

SKILLS

Strong knowledge of standard programming concepts, practices and procedures; including applications development in SQL, Visual Basic, Internet Information Server (IIS), database applications and web server implementation

Good Project Management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to rapidly changing priorities

Good leadership skills that motivate personnel by assisting them with the planning and organizational prioritization of tasks and projects to delivery

Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills

Good verbal and written communication skills

Excellent customer service skills, including telephone and listening skills

Ability to travel if needed

Ability to work within a fast paced team and foster teamwork

Self-starter, with the ability to work independently with minimal direction
