Description
Music teacher for grades 5-8, each class is divided into girls and boys per grade (4 classes total) Good vocal skills (should have vocal training and know how to develop young voices to sing in a natural, unforced manner) Ability to manage and engage a classroom effectively. Teach basic theory, e.g. counting, note values , time signatures, solfège and basic sight reading. Incorporate some music history and famous composers within the context of the music being taught. Be able to teach the Catholic standard hymns and Gregorian chants to each class Prepare the students for weekly school Masses. Organize the Christmas Program and Spring Concert. ( The Christmas program is in the form of Lessons and Carols, and the Spring program tends toward folk songs, classic musical theater and age appropriate songs.) Develop and deliver a curriculum that fulfills the Classical education ethos. Classroom assistant for Schola Carmeli (school choral group) Additional responsibilities as assigned by the principal. Requirements
BA required, BA or higher in music performance or education preferred. Previous work as a music teacher preferred. Interested candidates
