Location: Main Campus, Berkeley

Responsibilities
Oversee the Financial Literacy program, including resource identification, website updates, and faculty presentations.
Process financial aid applications and requests, notably federal loan modifications, need‑based appeals, and credit shortfalls.
Analyze and resolve award discrepancies, generate reports, and collaborate with Campus Solution and other campus units.
Serve as a primary advocate for students, ensuring timely and accurate award disbursement and compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
Lead financial aid communications: monthly newsletters, monthly email outreach, and the development of online content and email campaigns.
Develop and maintain the Financial Aid Operational Calendar and related reporting tools.
Reconcile large volumes of student data across multiple systems.
Recommend and implement operational improvements.
Provide individual counseling on sensitive aid issues and facilitate group workshops and webinars.
Consult with university departments and external agencies on procedural matters and contribute to departmental committees such as the LRAP and financial literacy committees.
Train student employees and new staff on financial aid office tasks and systems, including Campus Solutions and related platforms.
Perform additional duties as required by the Director of Financial Aid.
Qualifications
Working knowledge of federal, state, and institutional policies for awarding financial aid.
Strong advising, counseling, and customer‑service skills.
Advanced problem‑solving, critical thinking, and judgment abilities.
Proficiency with complex databases and financial aid systems; ability to design database specifications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal and diplomacy.
Computer literacy, including standard office software, email, video conferencing, and a willingness to learn new systems.
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree and three years (or an associate’s degree and six years) of financial aid experience.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; ability to work effectively with students from a wide range of backgrounds.
Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast‑moving environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with UC CalOptima, Campus Solutions Financial Aid modules, and related University‑specific applications.
Fast learner of new policies and processes within a university setting.
Benefits
Annual salary range: $80,200.00 – $94,300.00.
Full‑time, career position eligible for UC Benefits.
Exempt monthly‑paid position.
