Senior Director of Avionics

Responsibilities
Define and execute the vision of our next‑aircraft avionics from concept through production
Build, lead, and mentor a world‑class avionics engineering team
Drive the design of custom avionics hardware and support equipment
Integrate off‑the‑shelf hardware and drive the roadmap for future vertical integration
Establish and enforce appropriate design processes
Maintain technical excellence—implement rigorous design processes and ensure compliance with industry standards
Ensure system performance meets requirements and design expectations
Collaborate cross‑functionally with Shield’s core teams—engineering, production, supply chain, business development, and program management
Engage with external partners—coordinate with vendors and engineering teams as needed
Work in a fast‑paced environment
Qualifications
10+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer or a related field
5+ years of leadership experience
Strong technical fundamentals
Experience with custom electronics design and system‑level integration
Have worked on large platforms such as aircraft, rockets, satellites, automotive, etc.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Compensation & Benefits Full‑time regular employee offer package: Pay within range listed + Bonus + Benefits + Equity
Temporary employee offer package: Pay within range listed above + temporary benefits package (applicable after 60 days of employment)
