Director, Technology Strategy and Innovation
Join Amgen’s mission of serving patients. In this role you will shape and accelerate Amgen’s AI innovation agenda, focusing on translating AI potential into measurable business value and leading the Technology Innovation Lab within the AI & Data organization.
What You Will Do
Lead AI Product Strategy and Ownership.
Serve as Product Owner for AI and digital innovation initiatives within an Agile framework.
Define and evolve the vision, roadmap, and success metrics for Amgen’s AI product portfolio.
Drive rapid experimentation and iterative validation, enabling accelerated learning while minimizing exposure to technical or operational risks.
Bridge AI Strategy and Business Impact; act as a strategic integrator between technology, data science, and business functions.
Translate business opportunities into actionable AI use cases with clear hypotheses, value targets, and risk mitigation plans.
Partner with ATMOS, Business Technology Leaders, and external collaborators to operationalize and scale trusted AI systems.
Oversee the end‑to‑end progression of AI initiatives from concept incubation and proof‑of‑value to enterprise scaling.
Champion AI governance and compliance‑by‑design, embedding data quality, model robustness, and ethical AI principles.
Implement continuous de‑risking frameworks to address data drift, bias, or integration complexity.
Accelerate value while de‑risking delivery by establishing repeatable patterns for scaling AI products.
Maintain an expert understanding of the AI and emerging technology landscape, assessing opportunities and risks of adoption.
Advise on technology selection and partnerships, focusing on solutions that maximize strategic advantage while minimizing technical debt.
Design and lead change‑management strategies that promote adoption of AI tools across Amgen’s enterprise.
Embed user feedback loops and education programs to ensure AI capabilities are trusted, intuitive, and impactful.
Communicate clearly and data‑driven reporting on initiative progress, value realization, and risk posture to leadership and governance bodies.
What We Expect Of You Basic Qualifications
Doctorate degree and 4 years of technology and/or product management experience.
Masters degree and 8 years of technology and/or product management experience.
Bachelor degree and 10 years of technology and/or product management experience.
At least 4 years of experience directly managing people and/or leading teams, projects, or programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Align product vision with business and technical requirements.
Foundational technical competencies in data science, machine learning, coding (Python, R, or similar), or MLOps.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Effective communication skills across technical and non‑technical audiences.
Excellent project management skills and partnership experience across cross‑functional teams.
Independent and collaborative working style.
Knowledge of AI and digital transformation trends, particularly in life sciences.
