About The Role As an Embedded Engineer, you have an amazing opportunity to shape the way we develop our IoT embedded solutions. We need an exceptional technical engineer and self‑starter who can design, execute, and test new telematics and connectivity features on a range of Linux, Android, or real‑time operating systems. This role will help build the next‑generation embedded solutions for Motive. You will design and develop modular software features in a collaborative, agile environment and advance your career on cutting‑edge technology.

What You’ll Do

Design and develop high‑performance firmware and software for cutting‑edge embedded platforms

Debug, optimize, and validate firmware on complex embedded multi‑core architectures

Develop automated and unit‑level functional tests to validate features

Engage with a cross‑disciplinary team to design, develop, and test features up the stack

What We’re Looking For

5+ years of experience

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience

Strong programming experience and demonstrated proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems, including development of algorithms, manipulation of complex data structures, and highly optimized code

Experience in consumer electronics or familiarity with 2–3 relevant technologies: multi‑core ARM processors, WiFi/BT, IoT

Familiarity with ARM or another embedded multi‑core microprocessor architecture

Strong understanding of operating‑system concepts such as thread scheduling, context switching, and memory management

Experience with RTOS, Linux, or Android OS with ARM

Knowledge of electrical bus communication protocols such as UART, CAN, Ethernet, I2C, SPI

Locations We are hiring in the following locations: San Francisco, Seattle, Buffalo, Nashville, Austin, Vancouver, and Toronto.

This is a

hybrid role , with the expectation of being in the office 1–2 days per week.

Pay Transparency Your compensation may be based on several factors, including education, work experience, and certifications. For certain roles, total compensation may include restricted stock units. The compensation range for this position will depend on where you reside. For this role, the compensation range is:

$107,000—$164,000 USD .
