Job Summary As Tax Manager, you will oversee all aspects of tax compliance and internal consulting for sales and use tax, property tax on solar projects, withholding tax, and information reporting.
You will report to the Director of Corporate Finance and work in a hybrid location in Houston, TX.
The role requires 10% travel and flexible office hours.
Responsibilities
Lead all transactional and indirect tax processes including sales/use tax, property tax, withholding tax, and information reporting.
Handle audits related to indirect tax, withholding tax, and reporting filings.
Prepare and review tax filings (1099, 1042, sales and use tax, property tax, business tax renewal, etc.).
Conduct technical tax research to ensure compliance with state and local tax laws, producing memorandums and matrices as needed.
Advise internal business partners on indirect tax matters, including sales/use tax and solar project property tax.
Coordinate with outsourcing tax providers for Mexican subsidiaries and other international entities.
Support partnership entity tax returns and annual LLC reports.
Assist with worldwide transfer pricing compliance and intercompany transaction testing.
Maintain the tax notice log and ensure timely follow‑up.
Participate in financial planning and analysis related to business taxes.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
Minimum of 6 years of tax experience.
Experience in the construction or renewable energy industry is a plus.
Proficiency with tax software such as SOVOS, Vertex, or similar.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and ability to develop processes with minimal direction in a fast‑paced environment.
Physical Demands
Stationary work: up to 90% of time, sitting up to 8 hours per day.
Occasional bending, stooping, or walking; light to moderate lifting (up to 10 lbs).
Regular use of vision and hearing to communicate with coworkers.
Occasional stair climbing.
Travel up to 10% of time.
Work Environment
Regular professional office setting with low to moderate noise.
Potential for higher noise if working at a construction site.
The role may transition between on‑site and hybrid arrangements as business needs require.
