The Director of Procurement leads the strategic direction and execution of global commodity strategies across direct and/or indirect categories. This role is responsible for optimizing global supply base performance, driving cost efficiencies, mitigating risks, and ensuring alignment with corporate objectives. The Director will lead a team of commodity managers across regions and collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver sustainable value and innovation.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement global commodity strategies that align with business goals and market dynamics.
Lead supplier selection, negotiation, and contract management for key commodities.
Drive global sourcing initiatives to achieve cost savings, quality improvements, and risk mitigation.
Monitor global market trends, supply chain risks, and geopolitical factors impacting commodity pricing and availability.
Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with engineering, operations, finance, and regional procurement teams to ensure alignment and execution.
Establish and track KPIs, cost models, and performance metrics across commodities.
Integrate analytics, automation, and procurement technologies to enhance decision‑making and operational efficiency.
Champion sustainability, diversity, and compliance initiatives within the supply base.
Lead and develop a high‑performing global commodity management team.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field.
10+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management, or global procurement.
Proven leadership experience managing global teams and complex supplier networks.
Deep understanding of commodity markets, cost drivers, and global sourcing strategies.
Strong negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Demonstrated success in leading cross‑functional initiatives and influencing senior leadership across global business units.
Experience in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, or technology sectors.
Experience with ERP and procurement platforms (e.g., Oracle).
Expertise in managing both direct and indirect spend categories.
Familiarity with ESG, supplier diversity, and digital procurement transformation.
Spanish is desired.
Travel, both domestic and international, will be required up to 20%.
