Sr. Administrative Manager (DOM, Hospitalist Medicine Division)
We are seeking a Sr. Administrative Manager who will be responsible for overall administrative, financial and operational management of a large and complex department with an operating budget of about $40 million and more than 20 employees. The position provides strategic direction and day‑to‑day oversight of administrative and financial matters across multiple sites and service lines. The Sr. Administrative Manager serves as an operational and strategic partner to the Division Administrator and leads clinical program development, financial oversight, and administrative operations that support clinical services and faculty affairs.
Responsibilities
Financial Management
Oversee the development, preparation, monitoring, projections, and reconciliation of departmental budgets (clinical revenue, general funds, research, gifts, discretionary accounts).
Ensure accuracy of monthly account statements and oversee all related journal entries and electronic budget transactions.
Manage the procurement process for assigned accounts and maintain audit‑compliance records.
Advise leadership on financial resource needs and risk.
Develop, update, and amend financial processes and policies; partner with leadership to develop annual operating budgets and five‑year plans.
Provide detailed financial analysis to support strategic plans and produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Administration
Plan, produce, and execute key events and activities.
Mentor staff and support training programs.
Monitor staff workloads, prioritize tasks, and advocate for additional resources.
Coordinate and complete strategic initiatives.
Supervise performance of direct and indirect support staff, conduct performance reviews, and administer salary.
Develop administrative policies and procedures to ensure smooth operations.
Manage space and facilities issues.
Human Resources
Work with HR to establish career growth, maintain equity, and apply policies.
Resolve non‑routine HR problems promptly.
Support supervisors in hiring, performance management, disciplinary actions, and salary planning.
Ensure consistency with university personnel policies for payroll, onboarding, visa, and attendance.
Operations and Program Management
Oversee clinical, academic, and research operations and programs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Key Duties
Partner with Division Administrator and faculty leaders to develop business plans for new and existing clinical programs and hospitalist service lines, including market analysis, capital needs, SOPs, facilities, workflows, and staffing models.
Serve as project manager for launch, maintenance, oversight, and evaluation of clinical initiatives (e.g., AMU, IMC, IMG Observership).
Work with scheduling leads to establish clinical templates and ensure targets are met.
Support physician recruitment, onboarding, credentialing, payor enrollment, and billing compliance; act as secondary contact for faculty affairs with the Medical Staff Office.
Assist in updating curriculum for the Hospital Medicine fellowship program and other educational programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
Five years of progressively responsible professional‑level administrative or financial experience in an academic or research setting.
Supervisory experience.
Additional education or experience may substitute for required education beyond high school, per JHU equivalency formula.
Familiarity with overseeing administrative processes of a clinical service line.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficient use of EPIC, SAP, and Qgenda.

Compensation Starting salary range: $73,300 – $128,300 annually (target $90,000; commensurate with experience).
Employment Full‑time; FLSA exempt; M‑F; 8:30‑5:00; Hybrid (Johns Hopkins Bayview).
