Locum Consultant Gastroenterologist

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Gastroenterologist to join the William Harvey Hospital team at Ashford. The successful candidate will contribute to and develop Trust-wide services, including ERCP, Hepatology, IBD and a complex polyp service, and may have the opportunity to develop new services such as GI physiology and EUS in collaboration with our colleagues across the Trust.
At WHH the consultant team is supported by two IBD nurses, a hepatology nurse and UGI STT nurses who support the UGI cancer pathway. The post holder will support the site-based GI Bleeding rota (1 in 8) and a 1:8 Gastroenterology ward week, including in‑reach to the emergency pathways.
Main duties of the job
Provide inpatient and outpatient Gastroenterology care and contribute to the development of specialist services.
Support the GI Bleeding rota and 1:8 Gastroenterology ward week.
Aim to provide two OPD clinics per week and two general endoscopy lists, plus a session dedicated to a specialist interest.
Participate fully as an integral part of the WHH Gastroenterology team, including in‑reach and referral services to ED/AMU and other wards.
Support Trust-wide multidisciplinary meetings and specialty development.

Person Specification Qualification & Training
Full GMC Registration
MRCP (UK)
Post‑graduate gastroenterology qualifications (MD, PhD, ESEGH or equivalent)
Skills & Experience
Experienced in all aspects of gastroenterology.
Clinical Governance
Evidence of experience in clinical governance and audit.
