Base pay range $80,000.00/yr - $95,000.00/yr
Eleven Recruiting is seeking a skilled Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to support one of our leading aerospace and defense manufacturing partners, with time split between their Brea and Santa Ana facilities.
This organization is a market leader in the production of metallic and composite flight hardware and sub-assemblies supporting launch vehicles, missile systems, and critical defense applications. The EHS Specialist will play a key role in ensuring both facilities maintain full compliance with Cal/OSHA, EPA, DTSC, SCAQMD, and Water Board regulations while fostering a proactive, prevention-driven safety culture.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of environmental and occupational safety requirements, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to lead site-level compliance programs, audits, and training initiatives across multiple locations.
Responsibilities The EHS Specialist will develop, implement, and manage environmental, health, and safety programs supporting manufacturing operations at both sites. This includes compliance monitoring, employee engagement, and regulatory reporting to ensure all processes meet state and federal standards.
Program Development & Compliance
Administer and continuously improve EHS programs, policies, and management systems.
Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental and safety regulations, maintaining permits, records, and documentation for audits and inspections.
Manage and track corrective actions from safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations to ensure timely resolution.
Review and approve new materials and chemicals, maintaining accurate Safety Data Sheet (SDS) records across both facilities.
Incident Response & Investigations
Lead investigations for workplace injuries, near misses, and property damage events.
Conduct root cause analyses and develop corrective action plans to eliminate recurrence.
Maintain detailed records and trend analyses to identify systemic safety improvements.
Oversee environmental sampling and compliance testing, including stormwater, air quality, and hazardous waste.
Coordinate and track industrial hygiene monitoring for employee exposure to airborne particulates, noise, and chemical hazards.
Manage hazardous waste storage, labeling, disposal, and annual reporting activities.
Training, Engagement & Culture
Develop and deliver site-specific EHS training programs covering hazard communication, lockout/tagout, confined space, emergency response, and PPE use.
Conduct regular inspections and job hazard analyses to identify unsafe conditions or behaviors and recommend corrective measures.
Act as a trusted resource for employees and supervisors, providing guidance on safe work practices and environmental responsibilities.
Emergency Preparedness & Reporting
Lead the Emergency Response Team during drills and real events, coordinating evacuation procedures and site communication.
Support regulatory reporting, including hazardous waste manifests, stormwater discharge monitoring, and air quality reports.
Participate in third-party and internal EHS audits, ensuring audit findings are addressed and resolved.
Required Qualifications
In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations including Cal/OSHA, EPA, DTSC, SCAQMD, and Water Board requirements.
Demonstrated experience managing site-level EHS compliance programs within a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with proven incident investigation and root cause analysis skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication; able to train, influence, and engage employees at all levels.
Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple initiatives across two locations.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management software or inspection tools.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Safety Science, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline preferred.
3–5 years of experience in environmental health and safety management, ideally within an aerospace or advanced manufacturing setting.
Certifications such as HAZWOPER, CPR/First Aid, or equivalent safety training strongly preferred.
