Position Overview As a key member of Aramco Trading Americas’ global trading team, the Dry Bulk Charterer will lead the acquisition, optimization, and risk management of dry bulk freight across global markets. This role supports proprietary and third‑party trading activities, ensuring cost‑effective, compliant, and value‑driven freight strategies which complement the overarching global trading strategy. The ideal candidate will possess deep market knowledge, strong commercial instincts, and the ability to navigate complex chartering environments.

Duties

Chartering & Freight Strategy

Source, negotiate, and execute spot and term charter parties (voyage and time charters)

Develop freight strategies aligned with the global specialties trading desks

Identify arbitrage opportunities and freight market inefficiencies which can be captured

Charter third‑party tonnage to optimize cargo book execution

Monitor global dry bulk freight markets, trade routes, and cargo flows

Provide traders with freight cost modeling, market trends, and scenario analysis

Maintain awareness of port restrictions, vessel specs, and regulatory changes

Collaborate with operations to ensure smooth post‑fixture voyage execution

Support the management of demurrage exposure and marine cost optimization

Ensure compliance with Aramco’s corporate risk and compliance policies

Build and maintain relationships with brokers, shipowners, operators, and internal teams

Act as subject matter expert on charter party terms, legal risks, and marine assurance

Support affiliated business units (e.g., manufacturing & supply) on freight needs

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of direct dry bulk chartering or freight trading experience

Charter party negotiation and contract management

Freight cost estimation and risk management

Dry freight derivatives (FFAs) and market hedging strategies

Strong understanding of commodity flows (petroleum coke, sulfur, coal, grain, iron ore, fertilizers, etc.)

Regulatory frameworks and maritime compliance

Ability to work in an office environment located in downtown Houston, TX

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Economics, or related field

Experience with dry bulk shipowners/operators or established global brokerage houses

Refinery supply chains and trading desks

Chartering & Trading software such as IMOS, Mainstay, and SAP

Commercial acumen and strategic thinking

Negotiation and relationship-building skills

Analytical mindset with attention to detail

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
