Tax Senior Manager
You will be responsible for overseeing and reviewing financial information for clients, including business and individual tax returns. This role provides exposure to a diverse client base in multiple industries and involves managing client relationships and serving as a liaison between internal staff and leadership to ensure high‑quality delivery.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement comprehensive tax planning strategies that align with clients’ financial objectives and minimize tax liabilities.
Analyze complex tax scenarios, such as mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions, to provide optimal solutions.
Manage a portfolio of tax engagements, supervise tax staff, and review their work to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to firm standards.
Monitor engagement progress, budgets, and timelines, making adjustments to meet client expectations.
Stay abreast of evolving tax laws, regulations, and industry developments, applying this knowledge to client engagements and internal training initiatives.
Lead tax research efforts to address client inquiries, resolve complex tax issues, and guide decision‑making.
Effectively communicate complex tax concepts and strategies to clients, tailoring explanations to their understanding and addressing questions or concerns.
Prepare and deliver presentations to clients on tax‑related matters, providing insights into their financial situations and potential tax implications.
Maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor for tax‑related matters.
Review and oversee the preparation of tax returns to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to internal quality control standards.
Manage tax filing deadlines, extensions, and other compliance requirements to avoid penalties and ensure timely submissions.
Collaborate with other tax professionals within the firm to share insights, knowledge, and best practices; supervise and mentor tax staff to foster professional growth.
Foster a collaborative team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and effective communication.
Identify opportunities to enhance tax workflows, processes, and methodologies to continuously improve the firm’s tax services.
Ensure compliance with internal quality control procedures, reviewing and approving tax filings, documentation, and client deliverables.
Support strategic business development by collaborating with partners and senior management to identify growth opportunities, cultivate client leads, and contribute to the firm’s growth strategy.
Participate in proposal development and presentations to prospective clients.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise subordinate team members.
Work Environment
Work is conducted in a professional office environment with minimal distractions.
May involve prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
Travel Required
Travel may be frequent and unpredictable, depending on client needs.
Required Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
8+ years of relevant experience.
CPA or Enrolled Agent license.
Experience in a professional services environment such as a CPA firm or financial consulting firm.
Responsible for completing the minimum continuing professional education (CPE) credit requirement.
Software proficiency: CCH ProSystem FX, Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, Checkpoint for Tax Research.
Preferred Education & Experience
Juris Doctorate (JD) degree for specialty positions.
