Job Title Lead, System Integration & Test Engineer
Job Code 29479
Job Location Palm Bay, FL (on-site)
Job Description L3Harris Space Systems seeks an experienced SI&T or SW I&T Lead to support the integration of Ground Segment Software. The Lead will oversee system verification and test planning for the integration of spacecraft subsystems, culminating in end‑to‑end testing at the Space Segment. Responsibilities include leading a team of I&T engineers through the product life cycle, from initial requirement analysis for testability to designing and developing test plans and flows. The role also involves managing the integration activities of test beds and software simulators developed both internally and by subcontractors, and collaborating with internal program teams—systems engineering, software engineering, mission, payload, quality, and operations.
This position supports the test effort throughout the product life cycle, ranging from program inception and requirements analysis (including testability) to test architecture, integration, testing, and production support activities. It requires defining complex test strategies to verify mission ground capabilities while working with multiple internal organizations and subcontractors for full integration and testing of the system. Occasional direct support to programs and customers is expected to ensure the execution of test activities for existing portfolio programs and future pursuits.
Essential Functions
Provide expert–level system integration and test engineering expertise, as well as technical leadership, to a team during verification activities, including those involving subcontractors and integration work.
Lead the development and execution of ground verification plans, test procedures, and documentation of test results, ensuring requirements are met.
Support day‑to‑day execution of system test and integration tasks for Space Payloads and/or Space Vehicles.
Identify, record, document, and track issues through to resolution.
Analyze test results, detect issues, and track root causes in collaboration with the development team.
Collaborate with cross‑functional technical teams (Systems Engineering, Project Engineering, Software Engineering) during the requirements analysis phase, including updating the Requirements Verification Traceability Matrix (RVTM) for completeness.
Support root‑cause, troubleshooting, and corrective action processes as required.
Plan and manage facilities needed for integration and testing.
Represent SI&T during major design reviews such as SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR, IRR, and TRR.
Support all phases of the product life cycle: design, analysis, manufacturing, test, verification/validation, and delivery.
Travel to support integration activities (Colorado or other sites) and post‑delivery support as required.
Work extended hours and weekends when necessary.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years; or a minimum of 13 years in lieu of a degree.
4+ years of Ground System Integration and Test (SI&T).
4+ years of experience with cloud environments.
4+ years of experience with Agile development processes.
Active Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills
Experience working on aerospace/defense systems (space payloads, spacecraft bus, ground systems, environmental testing).
Experience with Agile or DevSecOps methodologies.
Experience designing and implementing cloud‑native solutions and migrating existing solutions to the cloud.
Proven experience in technical leadership, subcontractor management, and ground segment design and operations/training systems.
Experience with hardware and software requirements testability, definition, block diagrams, interconnect diagrams, and integration.
Experience using DOORS and/or MBSE tools such as CAMEO and MagicDraw.
Experience with automation and scripting languages (e.g., Java, Python, Perl, Visual Studio Code).
Experience with Jira/BitBucket/Confluence.
Experience with MS Project, Visio, PowerPoint.
Experience with source‑control tools.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in a technical environment.
Experience executing government or commercial, firm‑fixed price development programs.
Experience mentoring and growing technical staff.
Team‑player able to work in a large program and fast‑paced environment.
