Head of Risk - Stablecoin Infrastructure

Role Summary: We are seeking an experienced Head of Risk to build and lead the development, implementation, and oversight of our organization’s comprehensive risk function. This subject‑matter‑expert position requires deep knowledge of financial services regulatory requirements and the unique risks inherent in digital assets. You will own the entire risk framework, ensuring continuous alignment with best practices for safety, soundness, and consumer protection.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement a comprehensive enterprise risk management framework tailored to the risks and regulatory requirements of a USD‑backed stablecoin.
Continuously refine the framework, including governance, risk taxonomy, appetite statements, and reporting to senior management and the Board of Directors.
Oversee internal policies, procedures, and controls to ensure alignment with evolving regulations and guidance.
Manage Reserve Safety: Establish policies for reserve asset composition, diversification, duration, and liquidity.
Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis for redemption runs, market disruptions, and custodial outages.
Implement real‑time monitoring tools and early‑warning indicators to prevent and manage deviations from the USD peg.
Provide second‑line oversight for treasury activities, interest‑rate exposure, settlement processes, and investment of reserves.
Lead business continuity planning, disaster recovery, and severe‑event tabletop exercises for incidents such as cyberattacks or payment rail failures.
Ensure proper asset segregation along with integrity and accuracy of internal and third‑party data sources.
Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of risk programs through process improvements.
Requirements
15+ years of senior risk experience in payments, banking, and fintech, with 5+ years of digital asset risk management experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, or related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications are highly preferred.
Deep knowledge of risks unique to USD‑backed stablecoins, including peg stability mechanics, reserve composition and safekeeping, redemption dynamics, and on‑chain market structure.
Expertise in cross‑chain/bridge risk, key management, and smart‑contract change control.
Proven experience leading a team and developing a comprehensive risk framework in the digital asset industry.
Experience designing effective controls and leading execution of key components of a risk program.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to senior leadership, regulators, and staff.
Detail‑oriented, highly organized, strong sense of integrity and ethics, and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively under pressure.
