Platform Scientist – Automation & Synthetic Biology At Bullseye Biosciences, we evolve medicines inside living cells to unlock previously undruggable targets. We’re looking for innovators to help us build the future of therapeutic discovery.

Company Description Bullseye Biosciences is redefining how medicines are discovered by evolving them directly inside living cells. Our Archer Platform unites continuous directed evolution, synthetic gene circuits, and automation to discover genetically encoded macrocyclic peptides to unlock the potential of intracellular protein–protein interactions with unprecedented precision and scalability. Supported by leading biotech investors such as Illumina Ventures and advised by pioneering industry leaders including John Maraganore and Professor Jim Collins, Bullseye is translating cutting‑edge synthetic biology into real therapeutic impact. We’re applying this approach to high‑value targets across oncology, immunology, and metabolism, driven by a mission to redefine the scope of what is druggable.

Your expertise in automation, molecular biology, and NGS will not just advance our research, but also contribute significantly to the development of life‑changing treatments.

Role Description Come join us as a Platform and Automation Scientist in building a new generation of drugs against historically challenging targets using our directed evolution discovery engine!

This role will be instrumental in expanding our synthetic biology capabilities, deploying NGS capabilities for primary screening, and executing our screening campaigns against challenging targets. The Archer screening platform and subsequent hit testing relies on careful design of reporter "gene circuits" with multiple inducible components for precise control of the system. The role would help design, validate, and operate automation systems for high‑throughput evolution screening. Working with the Head of Research and Molecular Biology Team, you will be accountable for delivering from validation to meta‑analysis on our platform.

The Platform and Automation Scientist will be a key point person for establishing new methodologies and deploying our wetware and hardware for drug discovery screening. The screening itself leverages genetically encoded barcodes for NGS as a primary readout. This enables a platform scientist to run screening from design to output and analysis all on our robotics deck. You will also have the opportunity to continue supporting these targets through early drug discovery efforts and MOA. As a member of a small start‑up everyone makes major contributions to the direction and success of the company!
