The Regional Director of Operations – East provides leadership and oversight for branch operations within the assigned region. This role is responsible for managing branch managers, ensuring operational consistency, implementing company policies and procedures, and fostering J&L’s culture across locations. The Regional Director works closely with the Vice President of Operations to align branch performance with organizational goals and ensure efficiency, compliance, and customer service excellence. Provide direct leadership, guidance, and support to branch managers within the assigned region. Ensure operational consistency across branches, including adherence to standard operating procedures, safety standards, and company policies. Partner with the Vice President of Operations to set strategic operational goals and monitor progress toward achieving them. Drive accountability for operational performance, including safety, efficiency, inventory management, and customer service. Support branch managers in building and sustaining a positive workplace culture that reflects J&L’s core values. Regularly visit branches in the assigned region to maintain presence, strengthen relationships, and ensure operational effectiveness. Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures. Collaborate with other functional leaders (Sales, Purchasing, Finance, HR, Safety, etc.) to ensure operational alignment and cross‑functional success. Serve as a liaison between branch managers and senior leadership, ensuring clear communication and timely issue resolution. Provide coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities for branch managers and other operations staff. Assist in the evaluation and opening of new branches, as well as supporting integration of acquisitions or expansions. Other duties as assigned to support operational excellence. Requirements – Basic Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years of progressive operations management experience, preferably in a distribution, logistics, or building materials environment. Demonstrated success in leading multi‑location operations and managing multiple direct reports. Strong knowledge of operational procedures, safety practices, and regulatory compliance requirements. Proficiency with business systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office Suite. Valid driver’s license with ability to travel regularly to branch locations. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or related field. Excellent leadership, organizational, and decision‑making skills, with demonstrated success in developing and mentoring leaders. Effective communicator with ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization. Proven ability to implement process improvements and drive operational efficiency. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively. Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Ability to travel regularly to branch locations within the assigned region. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Frequent communication required, including speaking, hearing, and using telephone and computer. Work is performed primarily in an office environment with regular visits to warehouse and yard environments, which may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions and moving equipment.
